In the case of all arrests, it must be remembered that the charge is merely an accusation and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Law enforcement activities

The El Dorado Springs Police Department responded to 88 requests for assistance this past week, July 17-23. The requests were as follows:

Ambulance Assists 2, Animal Control 9, Assist Other Agencies 6, All Escorts 1, Nuisance 2, All Other Requests for Assistance 68, Summons 7.

Anyone interested in adopting  animals from the City Pound should contact Officer Richards, animal control officer at 876-2313.

Found Property is available for viewing, Monday through Saturday, by appointment only. A detailed description of the property you’re wishing to view must be specified when making the appointment. Found Property is subject to disposal after 90 days based on value of the property if unclaimed by owner.

Police Report

On July 17, 2023, officers responded to 105 West US 54 Highway concerning a Order of Protection Violation.  A suspect has been identified, a report taken and the investigation continues.

On July 17, 2023, officers responded to 227 West US 54 Highway, Pete’s Convenience Store, concerning a shoplifting. A report taken and the investigation continues.

On July 17, 2023, officers responded to 117 West Poplar Street concerning a peace disturbance. A suspect had been identified, a report taken and the investigation continues.

On July 18, 2023, officers responded to 610 South High Street concerning a report of identified theft. A report taken and the investigation continues.

On July 18, 2023, officers arrested Staci J Ohman, 26, of El Dorado Springs, for a Cedar County Warrant charging her with 3 counts of Forgery, and one count of Stealing $750 or more, with a $25,000 cash bond.  She was transferred to the Cedar County Jail pending bond and a court appearance.

On July 19, 2023, officers arrested Ricky L. Bonnett, 26, of El Dorado Springs, for a Cedar County Warrant charging him with Failure to Appear on the original charge of Fraud with a $250.00 cash bond. He was released on bond pending a court appearance.

On July 20, 2023, officers responded to 117 West Poplar Street concerning a domestic disturbance. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Chance B. Miller, 23, of El Dorado Springs, for the probable cause of Domestic Assault 4th Degree. He was released on summons pending a court appearance.

On July 20, 2023, officers responded to 504 East Fields, trailer number F12, concerning Tampering with Utilities. Suspects have been identified, a report taken and the investigation continues.

On July 21, 2023, officers responded to 305 West Broadway concerning a domestic assault. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Gregory L. Cottingham, 33, of El Dorado Springs, for the probable cause of Domestic Assault 4th Degree. He was released on summons pending a court appearance.

On July 21, 2023, officers of the El Dorado Springs Police Department with the assistance of the Cedar County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at 222 West Olive Street, after receiving information of illegal drug activity. Officers located illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia and firearms. Suspects were identified and charges are pending.

On July 21, 2023, officers responded to the intersection of Main and Spring Streets concerning disorderly conduct in the park.  The investigation resulted in the arrest of Donald J Kaus, 44, of El Dorado Springs, for the probable cause of Disorderly Conduct in the Park. He was release on summons pending a court appearance.

On July 21, 2023, officers arrested Marty P Aucoin III, 22, of El Dorado Springs, for the probable cause of Fugitive from Justice concerning an Arkansas Parole Violation Warrant with no bond.  Officers completed a probable cause statement for the charge. He was transferred to the Cedar County Jail pending extradition to Arkansas.

On July 22, 2023, officers responded to the 100 block of West Spring concerning a reported larceny. The investigation revealed during the Founders’ Day Picnic a vendor’s lock box containing US Currency was stolen. A report taken and the investigation continues.

On July 23, 2023, officers responded to 700 East US 54 Highway, Family Dollar/Dollar Tree concerning a shoplifting. The investigation revealed the theft of two grills and a cooler.  Suspects were identified, a report taken and the investigation continues.
