In the case of all arrests, it must be remembered that the charge is merely an accusation and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Law enforcement activities

The El Dorado Springs Police Department responded to 69 requests for assistance this past week, Oct 8-15. The requests were as follows:

Ambulance Assists 4, Animal Control 5, Assist Other Agencies 12, All Escorts 1, Nuisance 39, All Other Requests for Assistance 47, Summons 9.

Found Property is available for viewing, Monday through Saturday, by appointment only. A detailed description of the property you’re wishing to view must be specified when making the appointment. Found Property is subject to disposal after 90 days based on value of the property if unclaimed by owner.

Police Report

On October 9, 2023, officers responded to 410 East US 54 Highway concerning a larceny. The investigation revealed the theft of a black donation can containing US currency. On October 12, 2023, the investigation resulted in the arrests of Matthew J Richards, 33, of El Dorado Springs and Josee E Karguth, 31, of El Dorado Spring, for the probable cause of larceny. They were released on summonses pending a court appearance.

On October 10, 2023, officers responded to a delayed larceny from 201 South Belisle.  The investigation revealed money had been taken from cash application system. A juvenile suspect was identified and referred to the juvenile office.

On October 11, 2023, officer responded to 1302 South Park Street concerning property damage. The investigation revealed the passenger side window of a parked car was damaged by a projectile from a BB gun or Air Rifle. A report taken and the investigation continues.

On October 11, 2023, officers responded to 100 East US 54 Highway, concerning property damage. The investigation revealed damage to a left rear window of a vehicle. A report taken and the investigation continues.

On October 12, 2023, officers responded to 403 South Ohio Street, concerning a peace disturbance.  The investigation resulted in the arrest of Michael B Owens, 37, of El Dorado Springs for the probable cause of Domestic Assault, Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Armed Criminal Action. Officers completed a probable cause statement for these charges. Officers received a Cedar County Warrant charging him with Unlawful Use of a Weapon with a $20,000.00 cash bond. He was transferred to the Cedar County Jail pending bond and a court appearance.

On October 12, 2023, officers responded to 115 East US 54 Highway, Conoco Convenience Store, concerning a kidnapping.  The investigation revealed a male juvenile had been removed from a running vehicle parked in front of the business. The investigation revealed the juvenile was safe at home with the other parent.

On October 13, 2023, officers arrest Christopher S. Christensen, 26, of El Dorado Springs, for El Dorado Springs Municipal Warrants charging him with Failure to Appear on the original charges of 3 Counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Shoplifting, and Peace Disturbance, with a $339.00 bond. He was transferred to the Cedar County Jail pending bond and court appearance.

On October 13, 2023, officer responded to 100 East US 54 Highway, Casey’s General Store, concerning a shoplifting. The investigation revealed the theft of tubes of Orajel Toothache medicine and a white Celltronix 6 foot Heavy Duty USB cable. The investigation resulted in the arrest of  William J Taylor-West, 26, of Joplin, for the probable cause of larceny, Vernon County Warrants charging him with Failure to Appear for Driving While Suspended with a $237.00 cash bond, Failure to Appear for Stealing with a $250.00 cash bond, Failure to Appear for Larceny with $250.00 cash bond and Failure to Appear for Forgery 2 counts with a $100.00 cash bond and a Newton County Warrant charging him with Failure to Appear for Driving While Revoked with a $500.00 cash bond. He was transferred to the Vernon County Jail pending bond and court appearance.

On October 14, 2023, officers responded to 1801 South Phillips Street concerning a larceny.  The investigation revealed the theft of three small propane bottles from a trailer.  A report is taken and the investigation continues.

On October 14, 2023, officers responded 1305 South Missouri 32 Highway, concerning a peace disturbance. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Tristin A Reed, 22, of El Dorado Springs, for the probable cause of peace disturbance. He was released on summons pending a court appearance.

On October 14, 2023, officers arrested Carl M. Reid, 50, of El Dorado Springs, for an El Dorado Spring Municipal Warrant, charging him with Failure to Appear on the original charge of Driving While Revoked with a $331.50 bond.  He was released on bond pending a court appearance.

On October 15, 2023, officers arrested Jedediah J Krull, 40, of El Dorado Springs, for the probable cause of Driving While Revoked, Failure to Display Proof of Insurance and Expired License Plates.  He was released on summonses pending a court appearance.
