In the case of all arrests, it must be remembered that the charge is merely an accusation and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Law enforcement activities

The El Dorado Springs Police Department responded to 62 requests for assistance this past week, Dec. 18-24. The requests were as follows:

Ambulance Assists 4, Animal Control 13, Assist Other Agencies 6, All Escorts 0, Nuisance 0, All Other Requests for Assistance 39, Summons 3.

Animal Control

Anyone interested in adopting  animals from the City Pound should contact Officer Richards, animal control officer at 876-2313.

Found Property is available for viewing, Monday through Saturday, by appointment only. A detailed description of the property you’re wishing to view must be specified when making the appointment. Found Property is subject to disposal after 90 days based on value of the property if unclaimed by owner.

Police Report

On December 18, 2023, officers arrested Leah S. Morin, 41, of El Dorado Springs, for a Cedar County Warrant, charging her with Failure to Appear, on the original charges of Traffic Violation, with a $300.00 cash bond. She was transferred to the Cedar County Jail pending bond and a court appearance.

On December 19, 2023 officers responded to 409 South Grand concerning a larceny. The investigation revealed the theft of a grill/smoker. A report taken and the investigation continues.

On December 19, 2023, officers responded to property damage to a vehicle occurring at 202 North Grand Street. The investigation revealed a damaged windshield. A report taken and the investigation continues.

On December 21, 2023, officers responded to 106 East Poplar concerning larceny. The investigation revealed the theft of a refrigerator, stove and a stainless steel vent hood. A report taken and the investigation continues.

On December 21, 2023, officers responded to 107 West Martin Street concerning a structure fire. The investigation revealed the structure was vacant with no utilities services. A report taken and the investigation continues.

On December 23, 2023, officers responded to 101 Fairview Street concerning property damage.  The investigation revealed damage to a window screen at ground level. A report taken and the investigation continues.

On December 23, 2023, officers arrested Ronald P. Chandler, 62, El Dorado Springs, for a Cedar County Warrant, charging him with Failure to Appear on the original charges of Traffic Violation, with a $300.00 cash bond. He was transferred to the Cedar County Jail pending bond and a court appearance.
