The St. Clair County Commission met Monday, May 23, with Presiding Commissioner Robert Salmon, Northern District Commission Leroy Strope and Southern District Commissioner Gerald Williams present.

The Commission spoke with Darin Hamelink, MoDot, regarding B.R.O funding balance. Hamelink stated he would check into the matter and advise the Commission of the balance.

Note: B.R.O.-Bridge Replacement and Rehabilitation Off System Bridge (State).

CART revenues received were $55,243.86. $39,674.25 was the portion going to Common Road District. (These funds are allocated per mile of road and are received monthly.)

Out of these revenues funds are allocated to the following Special Road Districts:

Appleton City Special $2,752.20;

Chloe Special $1,808.60;

Collins Special $3,538.55;

Hillsdale Special $1,808.59;

Osceola Special $2,909.47;

Vista Special $2,752.20.

At 12:06 p.m. Commissioner Strope made a motion to adjourn. Commissioner Williams seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Commission met Wednesday, June 8, with all present.

A local citizen telephoned to report an issue with a culvert on NE 1030 Rd.

The City of Osceola telephoned inquiring on posting a speed sign. Information was relayed this is in the Osceola Special Road District.

The Commission spoke with James Nichols, representing Flynn Midwest, regarding the Courthouse roof and warranty. As Flynn Midwest will be doing business in the area in July, a price break was offered to the county on the roof repair.

Commission met Monday, June 13, with all present.

The Commission and Road and Bridge Supervisor Cole Cochran discussed road signs, grader blades and brush cutting.

The Commission met with James Nichols, representing Flynn Midwest, regarding Courthouse roof repair. A contract was signed for the repair work to begin about the middle of July 2016.

A report was received from the Sheriff’s office of a federal inmate count of 128 on June 7, 128 on June 8 and 125 on June 9., 2016.

Sales tax revenues received on June 7, 2016, for the month of April, 2016, was $38,841.22. Sales tax revenues are up $3,863.87 compared to one year ago. Sale tax for the year is up $7,372.45.

Commission met Wednesday, June 15, with all present.

A local citizen telephoned to report that after the wind storm, there were tree limbs over a section of the road on NE 401 Rd.

Treasurer Rhonda Shelby was in to have paper work signed to close out the checking account for the St. Clair County Senior Center.

Sheridan Garman-Neeman, St. Clair County Economic Developer, was in to update the Commission on meetings she has attended, development progress and future projects.

The Commission discussed exterminating service for the Courthouse with Rhodes Exterminating. Consensus was to have this work done every year.

The Commission and Road and Bridge Supervisor Cole Cochran discussed gravel for roads, vehicles and maintenance on vehicles.

The Commission discussed brush cutting in the county.

A concerned citizen was in to state that the road grading done on NE 800 Rd. was excellent; however, gravel is needed. The Commission stated they would address the issue as soon as the grader was in the area.

Presiding Commission Salmon and Commission Strope gave a report on the West Central Commissioner’s Quarterly meeting they attended Thursday, June 16. The meeting was hosted by Bates County.

CART revenues received were $56,212.66. $40,370.01 was the portion going to Common Road District. (These funds are allocated per mile of road and are received monthly.)

The Commission discussed the rehab on a bridge on SE 1425 Rd.

Commission met Wednesday, June 22, with all present.

The Commission and Road and Bridge Supervisor Cole Cochran discussed truck repair, equipment and a future safety training sessions.

Commission Williams was excused at 10:10 a.m.

After speaking with the Jail Administrator at the Sheriff’s office, due to the absence of the Courthouse custodian, it was agreed to have the Courthouse yard mowed at the end of the week.
