The St. Clair County Commission met Wednesday, Nov. 20, with Robert Salmon, presiding commissioner; Leroy Strope, north commissioner; Gerald Williams, south commission; Debbie Peden, county clerk absent and Lori Rowe, administrative assistant present.

The Commissioners spoke with Cole Cochran, road and bridge supervisor, regarding the location and condition of equipment and the road conditions.

The Commission spent considerable time reviewing Health Insurance proposals form companies represented by Mike Keith Insurance Agency. The decision was made to renew with the current provider, Lifestyles Plus. There is an 18% increase in premiums. The County contributes 80% of the premiums and the employee pays 20% of the premiums.

Teresa Heckenlively, St. Clair County Economic Developer, met with the Commission and discussed Appleton City Fire Department waiting to hear back on a grant to buy pagers and a laptop, Ellet Memorial Hospital purchased an ambulance for service in their area. Lowry City is looking for recourses to expand and improve their main street. Osceola Coalition is trying to create a Complete Street Policy template for the communities that score at least a 90% on their standards. Programs still in progress includes: Farm to fork and transportation options for the county.
