ST. CLAIR COUNTY SHERIFF

Sheriff Scott Keeler reported deputies made two arrests and took multiple reports during the week of Jan. 1 through 7, 2020.

Warrant Arrests

Marissa Bowers- On Jan. 6, Marissa Bowers, 38, Ash Grove, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy after being sentenced in court on a class D felony possession of a controlled substance. Bowers was sentenced to 10 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.

The original arrest comes after a St. Clair County deputy was at the Dollar General Store in Lowry City in May of 2018. He noticed the subject, Marissa Bowers, later identified by her Missouri non driver’s license, acting in a suspicious manner. Bowers exited the store and got into the driver’s seat of a vehicle and sat there for several minutes. The deputy made contact with Bowers to see if everything was alright. She stated she was waiting on a friend to pick her up. Through a records check, it showed Bowers to have a revoked license.

During their conversation, Bowers did admit to driving to the store. Bowers admitted to the possibility of a methamphetamine pipe in the vehicle. A K9 was called to the scene. During an exterior sniff test of the vehicle, the K9 alerted to the presence of narcotics. During a search of the vehicle two straws with a white residue were located. One of the straws field tested positive for methamphetamine. During a further search multiple items of drug paraphernalia were found.

Sallie Welch- On Jan. 4, Sallie Welch, 49, Collins, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging her with a class A misdemeanor violation of order of protection for an adult. Bond is set at $2,500 cash or surety.

The arrest comes after St. Clair County deputies were dispatched to a residence on SE 401 Road in reference to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, the deputies could not make contact with any of the residence. When the deputies were getting ready to leave, the male party pulled into the driveway. The deputies made contact with him and asked where Welch was. The male party stated she was in the house. The deputies were informed by dispatch that Welch had an active warrant. The male party opened the residence and the deputies took Welch into custody without any incident.

Stolen Truck from El Dorado Springs

On Jan. 7, a St. Clair County deputy was dispatched to a residence on SW Highway DD in reference to a stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, the deputy spoke with Robert and Beverly Herbst. Beverly stated that her and her husband had parked the truck next to their barn after feeding their cattle at around 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 6. Beverly stated when she woke up this morning she noticed there were buckets in their driveway. She stated they checked where they had parked their truck and the truck was gone.

The truck is a dark green 2004 Ford F350, four door, with no tailgate and rust along the bottom of the driver’s door. There is hail damage on the hood and the driver’s door handle was broken.

There was no known estimated loss amount at the time of this report.

Burglary in Osceola

On Jan. 5, a St. Clair County deputy was dispatched to a residence on 5th Street in regards to a burglary. Upon arrival, the deputy spoke with Lisa Self. Self stated when she showed up to the residence, she advised her front porch window screen was cut and the window was opened. Self stated she entered the residence and noticed some totes had been opened and gone through. Self went room to room and observed a lot of stuff out of place.

Self stated she was missing a green antique bread box and a men’s small Wilson leather coat. Total estimated loss value is $200. 

Stealing in Lowry City

On Jan. 5, a St. Clair County deputy was dispatched to the BP Convenience in regards to a stealing. Upon arrival the deputy spoke with a store employee, who stated that two younger white males, approximately 20-27 years of age, 5 foot 7 inches, entered the store around 8 a.m.

The two male meandered around the store for a few moments and the store employee started to become weary of them. They approached the counter and wanted to buy a pack of cigarettes, then changed their mind to wanting to buy a carton of cigarettes. When the store employee went to the back to get the carton, the two subjects stole the lottery tickets from the counter and fled the store on foot in an unknown direction of travel.

The first male was described as 20-27 years of age, white, wearing a black Nike ball cap, sunglasses, and a silver Under Armour hoodie.

The second male was described as 20-27 years of age, white, wearing a black and red Kansas City Chiefs jacket and a multi-colored lumberjack hat.
