ST. CLAIR COUNTY SHERIFF

Sheriff Scott Keeler reported deputies made two arrests and took a property damage report during the week of May 26 through June 2, 2020.

Warrant Arrests

Corey Smith- On May 31, Corey Smith, 30, El Dorado Springs, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with a class D felony domestic assault in the second degree. Bond is set at $10,000 cash or surety.

The warrant comes after a possible domestic assault was reported to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies made contact with the female victim. The victim stated Smith had smashed a cell phone and threw it at her, striking her in the head. The victim also stated while on the deck of the residence, Smith punched her in the head causing her to become unconscious and her jaw to become dislocated.

William Coleman- On May 26, William Coleman, 55, Roscoe, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on a class D felony burglary in the second degree. Coleman was booked and released pending formal charges.

The arrest comes after St. Clair County deputies were following leads into the stolen property case from Roscoe that was reported last week. St. Clair County deputies applied for and were granted a search warrant for the residence of Coleman. St. Clair County deputies along with Cedar County deputies and El Dorado Police Department officers executed the search warrant. During the search, property belonging to Edwin Boyd was recovered.

Property Damage in Lowry City

On May 30, a St. Clair County deputy was dispatched to the area of Highway A and Highway E in reference to property damage. Upon arrival, the deputy spoke with the property owner, Manuel Scott, and neighbor Steven Begley.

Begley witnessed the incident. Begley stated he was mowing his grass when he saw a possible red Chevrolet Cavalier lose control and spin off the road into a pasture. Begley advised he was walking towards the scene to make sure no one was injured when he saw the black male driver back the vehicle out from the fence and onto the road. Begley stated he tried to wave the driver down, but the driver would not stop.

The deputy observed two broken fence posts and a hog panel along with barb wire lying on the ground. The deputy collected evidence and photographs from the scene. Total estimated loss value is $300.
