Sheriff Lee Hilty reported deputies made six arrests and took multiple reports during the weeks of February 16th, 2021 through February 22nd, 2021.

Arrests

Stevenson, James – On February 18th, James Stevenson, 22, Kansas City, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on a Misdemeanor charge of Driving While Intoxicated. James was booked and released pending formal charges.

The arrest was made when a St. Clair County deputy performed a traffic stop on the vehicle James was the driver of, for speeding and multiple lane violations. James admitted to smoking Marijuana while driving, and blew over the 0.08 legal limit when given a Preliminary Breath Test for alcohol.

Nance, Steven – On February 18th, Steven Nance, Weaubleau, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on a Misdemeanor charge of Driving While Intoxicated. Steven was booked and released pending formal charges.

The arrest was made when a St. Clair County deputy responded to a call for service in regards to a motor vehicle accident with a driver that was possibly intoxicated. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Steven Nance, who gave consent for a Preliminary Breath Test and blew over the 0.08 legal limit. Steven admitted to drinking while operating the motor vehicle.

Taylor, Aaron – On February 19th, Aaron Taylor, 29, Lowry City, was arrested by Henry County on two St. Clair County Failure to Appear Warrants. The first warrant was for a Felony charge of Passing a Bad Check. The second warrant was for a Felony charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana/Synthetic Cannabinoid, a Misdemeanor charge of Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Prior Drug Offense, and a Misdemeanor charge of Possession of Marijuana/Synthetic Cannabinoid of 10 Grams or Less. Aaron was transported from the Henry County Jail and the total bond was set at $15,000 cash only.

Maxwell, James – On February 19th, James Maxwell, 54, Warsaw, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy for a Felony charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana/Synthetic Cannabinoid. James was booked and released pending formal charges.

Wetzel, Michael and Megan – On February 20th, Michael Wetzel, 70, and Megan Wetzel, 41, Osceola, were arrested by a St. Clair County deputy.

Michael Wetzel was arrested for a Felony charge of Assault -2nd Degree and a Felony charge of Unlawful Use of a Weapon – Subsection 4 – Exhibiting. Michael was booked and released pending formal charges.

Megan Wetzel was arrested for a Felony charge of Assault – 3rd Degree, and was booked and released pending formal charges.

The arrest was made when a St. Clair County deputy responded to a call for service in regards to threats being made and an assault occurring. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the victim, whom was bleeding from his head and reported that Michael had assaulted him with the butt of a rifle and that Megan had struck him multiple times in the face.
