Sheriff Lee Hilty reported deputies made six arrests and took multiple reports during the weeks of February 23rd, 2021 through March 8th,  2021.                       

Arrests

Mccurdy, Christopher – On March 3rd, Christopher Mccurdy, 42, Appleton City, was arrested by Vernon County Police Department on a St. Clair County warrant for a Felony charge of Domestic Assault – 2nd Degree. Christopher was transported from the Vernon County Jail to the St. Clair County Jail, and the bond was set at $10,000.00 cash or surety.

Lewman, Johnny – On March 3rd, Johnny Lewman, 59, Lowry City, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on a Henry County Failure to Appear warrant for No Insurance. The bond was set at $200.00 cash only.

Bly, Zachery – On March 4th, Zachery Bly, 21, Kansas City, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on 6 Clay County Failure to Appear warrants, and a St. Clair County warrant for a Felony charge of Resisting/Interfering with Arrest For a Felony, and a Felony charge of Assault – 2nd Degree- Special Victim. The total bond for the Clay County warrants was set for $29,100.00 cash only and the bond for the St. Clair County warrant was set at $15,000.00 cash only.

The arrest was made when information was given by a Polk County citizen had witnessed the vehicle Zachery was the driver of, stealing mail from mailboxes, and fled from the scene. Upon being stopped by St. Clair County deputies, Zachery drove off and crossed over north into the south bound lanes. At this time, he drove at a high rate of speed into oncoming traffic, while deputies attempted to get ahead of him to warn drivers of the danger. Zachery crossed over the lanes multiple times, ramming a patrol vehicle, and eventually rolled his vehicle while attempting to cross the median on 13 Highway, North of A Highway and C Highway Junction. During the investigation, it appeared he was stealing mail between Kansas City and Springfield. Sheriff Hilty praises the deputies and their quick thinking in trying to warn motorists of the dangerous situation. Anyone who may have encountered this subject traveling at them are encouraged to call the Sheriff’s Office.

Beckmon, Crystal – On March 4th, Crystal Beckmon, 39, El Dorado Springs, was arrested by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office for a St. Clair County warrant on a Felony charge for Possession of a Controlled Substance Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana/Synthetic Cannabinoid. Crystal was transported from the Polk County Jail to the St. Clair County Jail and the bond was set at $5,000.00 cash only.

Barks, Christopher – On March 5th, Christopher Barks, 40, Liberty, was arrested by Johnson County Sheriff’s Office in the State of Kansas for a St. Clair County Failure to Appear warrant on a Felony charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana/Synthetic Cannabinoid. Christopher was transported from Johnson County, Kansas, to the St. Clair County Jail and the bond was set at $5,000.00 cash or surety.

McFarland, Mary – On March 5th, Mary McFarland, 22, Kansas City, was arrested for a Felony charge of Stealing – Physically Take. Mary was booked and released pending formal charges.

Moore, Alexandria – On March 5th, Alexandria Moore, 27, Clinton, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on a Clinton Police Department Failure to Appear Misdemeanor warrant. The bond was set for $225.00 cash or surety.

Hutchens, Shanna – On March 7th, Shanna Hutchens, 47, Blue Springs, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on a Polk County Failure to Appear Misdemeanor warrant. The bond was set at a total of $100.00 cash only.

Arrests

Myers, Krista – On March 9th, Krista Myers, 31, Osceola, was arrested by Bates County Sheriff’s Office on a St. Clair County Probation Violation warrant on an original charge of Resisting/Interfering with Arrest for a Felony. Krista was transferred from the Bates County Jail and she is being held on No Bond.

Lawson, Amanda – On March 11th, Amanda Lawson, 39, Goodman, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on a Felony charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana/Synthetic Cannabinoid, and a Misdemeanor charge of Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Prior Drug Offense. Amanda was booked and released pending formal charges.

The arrest was made when St. Clair County deputies made a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle that Amanda was the passenger of. After a search of the vehicle, the deputies found two glass pipes with white residue on the inside of the pipe, and a plastic bag with white residue that field tested positive for methamphetamine. Amanda was transported to the St. Clair County Jail.

Bray, Debbie – On March 12th, Debbie Bray, 29, Humansville, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on a St. Clair County Felony warrant for Possession of a Controlled Substance Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana/Synthetic Cannabinoid. The bond was set at $10,000.00 cash or surety.

The warrant stems from a prior arrest, on February 10, in which a St. Clair County deputy performed a traffic stop on a vehicle Debbie was a passenger in. After a search of the vehicle was given, a mirror with a white substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine was found in the glove box. Debbie admitted to the mirror being hers, and was originally booked and released at the St. Clair County Jail, pending the formal charge(s).

Jensen, Christopher – On March 13th, Christopher Jensen, 36, Osceola, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy for a Felony charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana/Synthetic Cannabinoid. Christopher was booked and released pending formal charges.

The arrest was made after a St. Clair County deputy performed a traffic stop on the vehicle Christopher was the driver of, for a lane violation. Upon the deputy making contact with him, Christopher admitted to there being more than 35 grams of marijuana in the vehicle. At this time, the deputy performed a search of the vehicle and found multiple containers of unopened THC Wax, and multiple bags of a green leafy substance, alongside a receipt from multiple stores in Colorado. Christopher admitted to the items being his and to not having a medical marijuana card, and was transported to the St. Clair County Jail to be booked and released.

Wood, Brandon – On March 13th, Brandon Wood, 28, Osceola, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy for a Felony charge of Tampering with a Motor Vehicle – 1st Degree, a Felony charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana/Synthetic Cannabinoid, a Felony charge of Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Amphetamine or Methamphetamine, a Benton County Failure to Appear Felony Warrant, and a Webster County Felony Parole Violation Warrant. Brandon was booked and released on the St. Clair County charges, and is being held on the Benton/Webster County warrants on No Bond.

The arrest was made after St. Clair County deputies responded to the area of NE 175 Road in reference to a stolen 2000 Pontiac Firebird out of Clinton. Upon arriving to the property where the stolen vehicle was parked, the deputies noticed Brandon run to the back of the camper. After multiple verbal commands were issued for him to come out, Brandon finally came out and was taken into custody. During the search of the residence, a pipe with white residue and a bag with white residue that field tested positive for methamphetamine were found. Brandon admitted to the pipe being his, and was transported to the St. Clair County Jail.

Carl, Crystal – On March 15th, Crystal Carl, 38, Osceola, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy for a Misdemeanor charge of Endangering the Welfare of a Child – 2nd Degree. Crystal was booked and released pending formal charges.

The arrest was made when St. Clair County deputies responded to the Osceola Housing area in response to a domestic disturbance involving Crystal Carl. Upon arrival, the deputies took a report from a witness, stating that Crystal, while drinking alcohol, had allegedly pulled the hair of her daughter. Photographs of the house were taken, and Crystal was transported to the St. Clair County Jail.

Missing/Stolen Trailer

On March 11th, a St. Clair County deputy responded to NW 701 Road in reference to a stolen utility trailer. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with Edwin McDonald, who reported that his black utility trailer came off of the hitch on M Highway around Johnson City. The trailer had ramps on the back and the ride side, and Edwin reported that upon arriving back in the morning, the trailer was missing. The value of the trailer was estimated at $1,500.00.

Drowning in Collins, MO

On March 15th, 2021, at approximately 7:18 P.M., St. Clair County deputies were dispatched to Weaubleau Creek around the 9000 Block of SE 350 Road, in reference to an unresponsive person who had fallen off of his raft into the water. Upon arrival, the deputy observed an unresponsive white male, later identified as 21 year old Bradley Dill, lying on the water bank. Collins Fire Department and CMH Ambulance were both on scene assisting with CPR. A life-flight helicopter was requested. When en route to the helicopter landing zone, Bradley Dill was pronounced deceased at 08:20 P.M.

Further investigation found that Bradley Dill and a friend were riding down the creek, tied together at the wrists, on an air mattress. Bradley had suggested wanting to go and see the rapids on the other side of the bridge, and when they arrived, the air mattress came out from underneath Bradley and he fell into the water. Bradley’s friend struggled to pull Bradley from the heavy current, He was finally was able to pull him on to the river bank before calling for help.
