Upon signing up for the service, citizens will be able to get alerts on road closings, weather alerts directly from the National Weather Service, ongoing crime situations, and other emergency notifications. This will allow you to have immediate notifications in the event of a wanted person, a dangerous weather situation, and/or general event notifications

We were able to apprehend a fleeing subject within the first two weeks of having Text Caster available!

Arrests

Sheriff Lee Hilty reported deputies made 8 arrests and took multiple reports during the week of May 3rd, 2022 through May 9th, 2022.

Jones, Melissa- On April 3, 2022, Melissa Jones, 37, Osceola, was arrested by St. Clair County Deputies on a St. Clair County Warrant for 3rd Degree Domestic Assault, 2nd Degree Assault, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Delivery of a Controlled Substance at a County Jail. The arrest was made after deputies responded to a call for service in regards to a domestic dispute. Upon making contact with the victims, deputies transported Jones to the St. Clair County Jail on a Bates County warrant for Larceny and Domestic Assault. While Jones was in custody of the St. Clair County Jail, warrants were issued and the bond was set at $50,000.00 cash or surety.

Beckmon, Crystal- On May 4, 2022, Crystal Beckmon, 40, El Dorado Springs, was arrested by St. Clair County Deputies on three St. Clair County warrants for Possession of a Controlled Substance. The bond was set at $5,000.00 cash or surety.

Cooper, Kac- On May 5, 2022, Kac Cooper, 18, Butler, was arrested by St. Clair County Deputies on a St. Clair County warrant for Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Receiving Stolen Property, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. The arrest was made after deputies and Sheriff Hilty responded to a call for service in regards to a attempted vehicle theft in Appleton City. Upon making contact with the victim, the suspects fled the scene when confronted by the owner of the vehicle. Deputies located a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle used to flee the scene and conducted a traffic stop. Deputies ran the VIN number of the vehicle and dispatch reported that it was stolen out of Kansas. Cooper was removed from the vehicle and placed under arrest. Kac Cooper was located with a firearm concealed on his person along with drug paraphernalia. While he was in custody of the St. Clair County jail, warrants were issued for his arrest and the bond was set at $10,000.00 cash or surety.

Packham, Bobby- On May 5, 2022, Bobby Packham, 53, Warrensburg, was arrested by St. Clair County Deputies on a St. Clair County warrant for Felony charges of Nonsupport. The bond was set at $2,500.00 cash or surety.

Allison. Merrill- On May 5, 2022, Merrill Allison, 51, Lowry City, was arrested by St. Clair County Deputies on St. Clair County warrants for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of a weapon and a Felony Controlled Substance, Keeping or Maintaining a Public Nuisance, and Possession of Methamphetamine Precursors. The bond was set at $10,000.00 cash or surety.

Tindall, Janie- On May 6, 2022, Janie Tindall, 63, Pleasant Hill, was arrested by St. Clair County Deputies on St. Clair County warrants for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The bond was set at $15,000.00 cash or surety.

Suranofsky, Keelan- On May 7, 2022, Keelan Surofsky, 31, Appleton City, was arrested by St. Clair County Deputies on a St. Clair County warrant for 4th Degree Domestic Assault. The bond was set at $5,000.00 cash only.

Bandy, Jennifer- On May 7, 2022, Jennifer Bandy, 44, Clinton, was arrested by St. Clair County Deputies for Operating a Vehicle without a Valid Driver’s License. The arrest was made after deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for defective equipment. Upon making contact with the driver of the vehicle, deputies were informed by dispatch that the subject did not possess a valid driver’s license and Band was transported to the St. Clair County Jail.

Stolen Property in Schell City

On May 3, 2022, deputies responded to a call for service in regards to stolen property. Upon making contact with the victim, he reported that someone stole his orange and white Stihl chainsaw. The victim estimated that the chainsaw was valued at $500.00. Deputies took a report and the investigation is still ongoing.

Arrests

Sheriff Lee Hilty reported deputies made 6 arrests and took multiple reports during the week of May 10th, 2022 through May 16th, 2022.

Gregory, Maria- On May 12, 2022, Maria Gregory, 32, Kansas City, was arrested by St. Clair County Deputies for 1st Degree Trespassing, 4th Degree Assault, Resisting Arrest, and 1st Degree Sexual Misconduct. The arrest was made after St. Clair County Deputies responded to a call for service in regards to a female running around naked in the parking lot of the Amish trading Post in Osceola. Deputies arrived on scene and located the subject at a hotel nearby in a hotel room where someone was residing. Deputies placed Gregory under arrest and transported her to the St. Clair County jail.

Woods, Glenn- On May 14, 2022, Glenn Woods, 48, Osceola, was arrested by St. Clair County Deputies for 3rd Degree Domestic Assault and Resisting Arrest. The arrest was made after deputies responded to a call for service in regards to a domestic assault. Upon making contact with the victim, a St. Clair County detective found Woods as the primary aggressor of the incident. When St. Clair County detective attempted to place Woods into custody, Woods resisted arrest. Woods was transported to the St. Clair County Jail where a warrant was issued for his arrest. The bond for both charges was $25,000.00 cash or surety.

Vance, Megan- On May 16, 2022, Megan Vance, 25, El Dorado Springs, was arrested by St. Clair County Deputies on two St. Clair County warrants for Possession of a Controlled Substance and three St. Clair County warrants for Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The bond was set at $5,000.00 cash only.

Pursuit in Osceola

On May 10, 2022, a St. Clair County Deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle for driving with an expired registration. The deputy activated their emergency lights and sirens; the vehicle failed to yield and continued driving. The vehicle picked up speed, then turned on a road with a dead end then proceeded through a field and ended upon Old 13 highway. The driver of the vehicle continued to fail to yield to the deputy’s emergency lights and sirens and backup from Lowry City Police Department arrived on scene to assist with the pursuit. The vehicle turned, struck a barbed wire fence and crashed into a creek. The driver of the vehicle, Ethan Brookeshire, 31, Arcadia, KS, took off running on foot and was followed by the Lowry City Police Officer. Brookeshire was taken into custody and officers were notified by dispatch that he had a nationwide warrant out of Cherokee County, Kansas for Theft. Brookshire was charged with Resisting Arrest, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Failure to Stop at a Posted Stop Sign, and 2nd Degree Property Damage. The front seat passenger, later identified as Courtney Allen, 23, Arcadia, KS, had probation violation warrant out of Labette County, Kansas and was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance. The back passenger, later identified as Joshua Lee, 43, had a warrant out of Cherokee County, Kansas for Failure to Appear. Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and found controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.
