Help Wanted: Deputy Sheriff

The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for full-time positions as a Deputy Sheriff. Primary duties will include patrol of the county, answering calls for service, paper service, and other various duties as assigned. Must be able to perform tasks on your own and as a team. Shifts and hours will be varying. Minimum requirements are: Must be a high school graduate, at least 21 years of age, POST Certified, have a valid driver’s license, and successfully pass a thorough background investigation. Benefits include paid holidays, sick leave, and vacation time. Health insurance is available. We are an equal opportunity employer. Arrests and Reports

Sheriff Lee Hilty reported deputies made arrests and took multiple reports during the week of June 20, 2023 through June 26, 2023

June 20, 2023- St. Clair County deputies arrested Ronni Clark @ Vernon County jail on St. Clair County warrant for Tampering with Motor Vehicle- 1st Degree. Bond set at $25,000 cash surety.

June 20, 2023- St. Clair County deputies responded to West 3rd Street in Appleton City in regards to a protection order violation. Benjamin Balthrope was arrested and transported to St. Clair County jail for a book and release.

June 20, 2023- St. Clair County deputies responded to intersection of ZZ Highway Northeast 1030 Road in regards to threats. Verbal altercation led to shots fired. No one was hit and the suspect was gone before deputies arrived. William Bishop has pending charges for Unlawful Use of a Weapon-Subsection 9 – Shoot At/From Motor Vehicle, At Person, Motor Vehicle or Building.

June 21, 2023- St. Clair County deputies responded to East Rodgers Street in Lowry City regarding fraud. Report was taken.

June 22, 2023- St. Clair County deputies responded to Twin Oaks Harbor in regards to domestic disturbance. Tommy Davidson is being charged with Domestic Assault- 4th Degree.

June 22, 2023- St. Clair County deputies responded to East 6th Street in Lowry City for a domestic disturbance. Suspect was not able to be located.

June 22, 2023- St. Clair County deputies responded to West 3rd Street in Lowry City in regards to a deceased subject. After several minutes of first responders performing CPR, subject was pronounced deceased.

June 23, 2023- St. Clair County deputies responded to South 17th Street in Collins in regards to threats. Report was taken.

June 23, 2023- St. Clair County deputies responded to Ralph Johnson Circle in regards to possible ex parte violation. Report was taken.

June 23, 2023- St. Clair County deputies conducted a traffic stop on Northbound 13 before county line. Mary Burnett was arrested on a Miami County, Kansas warrant. Bond is $2500 cash surety.

June 23, 2023- St. Clair County deputies responded to South Blaine in Lowry City in regards to a trespassing. Subject left the residence.

June 24, 2023- St. Clair County deputies responded to North Poplar Street in Appleton City in regards to a possible domestic disturbance. No assault had taken place.

June 24, 2023- St. Clair County deputies responded to Southeast 1147 Road in Osceola in regards to harassment. Report was taken.

June 24, 2023- St. Clair County deputies and conservation agent responded to Taberville Access in regards to a stranded boater. Boat was stuck on tree stumps. Two of the boaters rode back to shore on deputies’ boat, boat owner stayed with his boat.

June 24, 2023- St. Clair County deputies responded to West 1st Street in Appleton City in regards to an animal complaint. Reporting Party was being chased by a dog. Informational report was taken.

June 25, 2023- St. Clair County deputies responded to Appleton City Cemetery in regards to theft. Items stolen from the maintenance shed include (2) Stihl weed eaters         , (1) Stihl leaf blower, (1) Stihl hedge trimmer, and (2) full gasoline red gas cans. Investigation ongoing.

June 26, 2023- St. Clair County deputies responded to Main Street in Collins in reference to stolen property. Item stolen is a “Village of Collins Park Est 2016” metal sign. Sign was located in Polk County. Investigation is ongoing.

June 26, 2023- St. Clair County deputies responded to East Arbor Street in Appleton City in regards to trespassing. Rebecca Dutcher is being charged with trespassing.

Arrests and Reports

On June 27, 2023- St. Clair County deputies received a call for service at the Sheriff’s Office in regards to an ex parte violation. William West is being charged with Violation of Order of Protection for Adult-1st Offense.

On June 27, 2023- St. Clair County deputies responded to Northeast 50 Road for a possible death. Coroner pronounced subject deceased.

On June 27, 2023- St. Clair County received a call for service at the Sheriff’s Office for a report of fraud. Report was taken.

On June 27, 2023- St. Clair County responded to Southeast 1147 Road in Osceola for a report of burglary. Stolen items were approximately (30) zippo lighters, .22LR lever action with gold trigger and thumb extension on hammer, .22LR bolt action with broken magazine.

On June 28, 2023- St. Clair County deputies arrested Ryan Russell at the Greene County Jail on St. Clair County warrant for Failure to Appear on Stealing- 1st or subsequent and Trespassing. Bond set at $5,000 cash only.

On June 28, 2023- St. Clair County deputies responded to South Cleveland Street in reference to an uncontrollable juvenile. Guardians of the juvenile requested that the juvenile be transported to Golden Valley to be evaluated.

On June 28, 2023- St. Clair County deputies arrested Jacob Rotert on a Clinton Police Department warrant. Bond $400 cash only.

On June 29, 2023- St. Clair County deputies received a call for service at the Sheriff’s Office for the report of theft of a dog. Reporting Party has put up flyers and posted on social media for her dog.

On June 29, 2023- St. Clair County deputies responded to West 7th Street in Appleton City regarding a dog bite. Investigation is ongoing.

On June 29, 2023- St. Clair County deputies responded to Ralph Johnson Circle in Osceola in regards to an ex parte violation. Victor Garrett was arrested for Violation of Order of Protection for Adult- 1st Offense.

On June 29, 2023- St. Clair County deputies received a call for service at the Sheriff’s Office in regards to fraud. Investigation is ongoing.

On June 30, 2023- St. Clair County deputies received a call for service at the Sheriff’s Office in regards to squatters camping at Monegaw Springs Park.

On June 30, 2023- St. Clair County deputies responded to Southeast 1141 Road in Gerster for a call regarding stolen property. Item stolen was a Kawasaki Mule red and green in color. Investigation is ongoing.

On June 30, 2023- St. Clair County deputies responded to Appleton City to assist another agency.

On July 1, 2023- St. Clair County deputies responded to Southeast 700 Road in Weaubleau in regards to a disturbance. Property was returned to reporting party and the individuals separated for the evening.

On July 1, 2023- St. Clair County deputies arrested John Boothe on Polk County warrants.

On July 1, 2023- St. Clair County deputies responded to East 7th Street in Appleton City in reference to property damage. Reporting party had damage to his RV.

On July 1, 2023- St. Clair County deputies responded to Southeast 700 Road in Weaubleau in regards to a domestic assault. Upon deputies arriving the aggressor had left the residence. Unable to locate suspect in the area.

On July 2, 2023- St. Clair County deputies responded to Southeast TT Highway in Osceola in reference to trespassing. Report was taken.

On July 3, 2023- St. Clair County deputies received a call for service at the Sheriff’s Office in regards to an assault over the weekend. Report was taken. Investigation is ongoing.

On July 3, 2023- St. Clair County deputies responded to Northeast 1248 Private Road in Osceola in regards to a possible deceased individual. After first responders performed life saving measures, subject was pronounced deceased by the coroner.

On July 3, 2023- St. Clair County deputies responded to Southeast 300 Road in Collins for a domestic disturbance. Reporting party and children were given a ride to a safe location.

On July 3, 2023- St. Clair County deputies arrested Frederick Byrd on a Clinton Police Department warrant for Failure to Appear.
