Arrests and Reports

Sheriff Lee Hilty reported deputies made arrests and took multiple reports during the week of July 22nd through July 28th, 2025.

July 30th – Felony Arrest (Resisting Arrest) – On July 30th, a St. Clair County Deputy performed an investigative stop on a vehicle in the Dollar General parking lot in Osceola. During the investigation, it was determined that the driver, John Wood, had two warrants out for his arrest. At this time, John fled the scene, and was eventually taken into custody by St. Clair County Deputies for a new charge of Resisting Arrest for a Felony, a St. Clair County Warrant charging him with Probation Violation – Burglary 2nd Degree, and a St. Clair County Warrant charging him with Probation Violation – Possession of a Controlled Substance Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana. John was transported to the St. Clair County Jail to be held on the two warrants and the new offense, pending formal charges on it.

August 2nd – Warrant Arrest (Dangerous Drugs) – On August 2nd, a St. Clair County Deputy responded to SE 575 Road in Collins, in reference to a subject with an active warrant. Upon arrival, the deputy met with the property owner who stated that a female inside had an active warrant. Tonya Johnson was arrested on a St. Clair County Warrant for Possession of a Controlled Substance Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and a St. Clair County Warrant for three counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana. Tonya was transported to the St. Clair County Jail and the total bond for both warrants was set at $20,000 cash or surety.

August 3rd – Warrant Arrest (Dangerous Drugs) – On August 3rd, a St. Clair County Deputy arrested Shannon Blum at the Jackson County Jail on a St. Clair County Warrant. The warrant included charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Shannon was transported to the St. Clair County Jail and the bond was set at $10,000 cash only.

August 3rd – Stealing in Collins – On August 3rd, a St. Clair County Deputy responded to SE 726 Road in Collins, in reference to a theft. Upon arrival, the deputy met with the property owner who stated that three to four days ago, his rear license plate had been stolen from his Black 2014 Ford Truck. The deputy collected evidence, entered the license plate as stolen, and filed a report. This investigation is ongoing.

August 3rd – Stealing in Osceola – On August 3rd, a St. Clair County Deputy responded to the Osceola Cheese Store in reference to a theft. Upon arrival, the deputy met with a store manager who reported that a male suspect had left the store without paying for his items. The stolen items were listed as several blocks of cheese, a one pound bag of beef jerky, and an orange flavored soda. The estimated value of the stolen items was $100. A description of the suspect was given alongside video camera footage of the theft, and the Deputy filed a report. This investigation is ongoing.

Arrests and Reports

Sheriff Lee Hilty reported deputies made arrests and took multiple reports during the week of August 5th through August 11th, 2025.

August 5th – Warrant Arrest (Stealing) – On August 5th, a St. Clair County Deputy responded to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a subject with a warrant. Upon arrival, the deputy arrested Colt Andrew Reo on a St. Clair County Warrant charging him with Stealing – $750 or More. Colt was escorted back to the St. Clair County Jail and the bond was set at $1,000 cash only.

August 6th – Warrant Arrest (Stealing) – On August 6th, a St. Clair County Deputy responded to the St. Clair County Courthouse in reference to a subject with a warrant. Upon arrival, the deputy arrested Travis Hood on a St. Clair County Warrant charging him with Probation Violation – Stealing. Travis was transported to the St. Clair County Jail and no bond was set.

August 7th – Fraud – On August 7th, a St. Clair County Deputy responded to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office in reference to Fraud in Lowry City. The deputy met with the reporting party, who stated that an unknown individual had taken loans out in his name through Southeast Financial. The deputy took a report, and contacted the financial institution for further information. This investigation is ongoing.

August 7th – Warrant Arrest (Failure to Appear) – On August 7th, a St. Clair County Deputy arrested Bobby Smith at the St. Clair County Jail on multiple warrants. The first warrant was a St. Clair County Warrant charging him with Failure to Appear – DWI, and the second warrant was an Osceola Police Department warrant charging him with Failure to Appear – Speeding. Bobby was held at the St. Clair County Jail and the bonds were set at $5,000 cash or surety and $260 cash only.

August 11th – Warrant Arrest (Dangerous Drugs) – On August 11th, a St. Clair County Deputy arrested Jeffrey Scherler at the Greene County Jail on a St. Clair County Warrant. The warrant had original charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana/Synthetic Cannabinoid and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Jeffrey was transported to the St. Clair County Jail and no bond was set.

August 11th – Warrant Arrest (Dangerous Drugs) – On August 11th, a St. Clair County Deputy arrested James Saunders at the Jackson County Jail on a St. Clair County Warrant. The warrant had original charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana/Synthetic Cannabinoid and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. James was transported to the St. Clair County Jail and the bond was set at $5,000 cash or surety.
