ST. CLAIR COUNTY SHERIFF

Sheriff Scott Keeler reported deputies made seven arrests and took a stolen car report during the week of Nov. 26-Dec. 3, 2018.

Kristopher Lockery- On Dec. 3, Kristopher Lockery, 39, Lebanon, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on a class D felony abuse or neglect of a child- no sexual contact. Lockery was placed on a 24 hour hold pending formal charges.

The arrest comes after a St. Clair County deputy was dispatch to Casey’s General Store in Appleton City in reference to an assault involving a juvenile.

Bert Mace- On Dec. 3, Bert Mace, 39, Lowry City, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with a class E felony driving while intoxicated-causing physical injury. This is a no bond warrant.

Mace was sentenced to five years in the Missouri Department of Corrections after a sentencing hearing was held on Dec. 3, 2018. The original charge stems from a Missouri State Highway Patrol investigation on June 17, 2017.

Sean Smithey- On Dec. 3, Sean Smithey, 19, Lansing, KS, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on a Nodaway County warrant for a class D misdemeanor no driver’s license and an infraction charge for displaying/possessing motor vehicle/trailer plates of another person. Bond is set at $100 cash only.

The original charges come from the Maryville Department of Public Safety on Aug. 11, 2018.

Jonathan Smith- On Nov. 28, Jonathan Smith, 19, Mountain Home, AR, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on a class D felony possession of a controlled substance and a class D misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Smith was booked and released pending formal charges.

The arrest comes after the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office received a phone call from Hickory County about a suspect vehicle where the occupants were involved in an assault in Hickory County. A St. Clair County deputy spotted a vehicle matching the given description from Hickory County sitting at a gas pump at Pilot Travel Center in Collins. Deputies approached the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Jonathan Smith. When asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle, Smith stated he has a glass pipe in the sunglasses compartment. A K9 unit was on scene and performed an exterior sniff test of the vehicle and did alert to the odor of narcotics. The deputies searched the vehicle and recovered the glass pipe. The pipe did field test positive for methamphetamine.

Smith and the vehicle were not the suspect vehicle that Hickory County was looking for.

Kenneth Collins Jr.- On Nov. 27, Kenneth Collins Jr., 34, Lowry City, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on a Jackson County warrant for failure to appear in court on a felony dangerous drugs charge. Bond is set at $2,500 or 10% cash.

Steven Barrentine- On Nov. 27, Steven Barrentine, 38, Collins, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with a class E felony domestic assault in the fourth degree. Bond is set at $10,000 cash or surety.

The warrant comes after Barrentine reportedly made verbal threats of harm to his girlfriend while she was holding a baby.

Justen Myers- On Nov. 26, Justen Myers, 30, Carthage, was arrested on two St. Clair County warrants charging him with probation violations. The first warrant is for an original charge of a class E felony domestic assault in the fourth degree and a class E felony unlawful use of a weapon. The second warrant is for domestic assault in the fourth degree. Total bond is set at $5,000 cash only.

The original charges stem from Osceola Police Department investigations on April 12, 2017 and July 12, 2017.

Stolen Vehicle from Osceola

On Nov. 30, a St. Clair County deputy was dispatched to SE 276 Road in Osceola in reference to a stolen vehicle.

Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with Jeremy Bendt. Bendt stated his white 2015 Chevrolet Impala was stolen during the night from his driveway. Bendt also contacted OnStar, who attempted to locate the vehicle. Bendt estimated the value of the vehicle to be $15,000.

The deputy canvassed the area with negative results.

At around 12:30 p.m. the deputy was contacted by the Henry County dispatch in reference to the stolen vehicle. They advised the vehicle was located at the Otter Creek boat access in Henry County. The car had been set on fire.

Mr. Jeremy Bendt was notified of the findings.
