Jordan K. White, Director of Bands, for El Dorado Springs R-2 Schools, reports, I am beyond pleased to report on the recent successes of the Bulldog Band program. On Monday, March 5, the Bulldog Band traveled to Stockton HS to compete in the District 7 Solo and Ensemble contest.

Students prepared solos and small chamber ensembles to perform for an adjudicator. Each event is judged on its own merit, so no comparisons are made between events.

I am pleased to report the following results from this busy day.

2 Ratings (Outstanding Performance)

Cody Rutledge (Sr.) – Trumpet Solo

Kaleb Raff (Jr.) – Trombone Solo

Brock Kirbey (So.) – French Horn Solo

Jalen Julian (Fr.) – Snare Drum Solo

1 Ratings (Superior Performance)

Caleb Alexander (Sr.) – Tenor Saxophone Solo

Paige Floyd (Sr.) – Timpani Solo

Hunter Jacobs (Jr.) – Clarinet Solo

Ethan Roberts (So.) – Trumpet Solo

Trumpet Trio – Ethan Roberts, Cody Rutledge and Alex Posey

Brass Quartet – Ethan Roberts, Alex Posey, Brock Kirbey and Tommy Higbie

The students who earned the 1 Ratings will perform their selections on Saturday, April 28, at MU in Columbia. These students have put in countless hours and caused their band director to have many sleepless nights, but it is such a joy to see the progress and growth of each student. They are pretty excited and I am very proud of them.

The Band’s next performance will be on April 6 at SBU for the MSHSAA State Large Ensemble Festival. The band will perform two pieces of music for three judges, then perform a sight-reading piece of music for an adjudicator.
