El Dorado Christian School held a Veterans Day Assembly earlier this week, bringing together the school community for a time of reflection, remembrance, and gratitude. The program, held in the ECS gymnasium, honored the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces.

The assembly opened with the Pledge of Allegiance, led by students Cherokee Fogle, Jon Cole, and Grace Hubbard, followed by a performance of the National Anthem by Mr. South. Students then participated in worship through music, singing “America the Beautiful” and “God Bless America.” Mrs. Nissley offered a prayer for veterans and their families before a video tribute highlighting the significance of Veterans Day was shown.

A special part of the program included recognizing students who were selected as winners in the VFW’s annual essay competitions—Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen. Their essays centered around the theme “What can I do to show patriotism?” This year’s honored students were Laura Purtle, Josie Wyant, McKenzie Cole, Kaiden Asmus, and Isaac Hubbard. Each student’s work reflected heartfelt ideas about demonstrating appreciation, responsibility, and pride in their country.

The assembly also featured poetry readings. Alayna Gingerich presented her poem, The Veteran, while Camren Reasoner read the historic World War I poem In Flanders Field. The program concluded with a closing prayer by Mr. Cole.

El Dorado Christian School expressed pride in its students for their participation and gratitude toward veterans. The assembly served as a meaningful reminder of the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of those who have served the nation.
