NEVC HOLDS VETERAN’S DAY ASSEMBLY – A warm welcome was given to the local veterans and their families at the NEVC High School in Walker Friday morning. Special music – The Brave, Let Freedom Sing, and We Honor You – was presented by the combined Elementary and High School choirs. Symbolism of the Flag was given by the NEVC Student Council which also led in the Pledge of Allegiance followed by the National Anthem by High School and Elementary Choirs. A MIA/POW Ceremony was conducted by the guest speakers, Pat McClellan, Art Plain and Erma Garret of VFW Post #2175. They demonstrated the story of the White Table using the white tablecloth, single red rose, red ribbon tie, candle, slice of lemon on bread plate, pinch of salt, Bible, inverted glass, and empty chair telling of soldiers who were willing to respond for the service of their country. We were told to Remember and appreciate the sacrifice some of our soldiers have given that we might have freedom. A history of the military flags was given by the student council. Veterans were recognized during the Armed Forces Medley led by Tim Tabor, Emma Pritchett and Brittney Trueblood. NEVC students competed in an essay contest to honor veterans.
