NEW SIGN OUTSIDE NEVC GYM

(from left) Thursday morning saw Terry West, the new custodian at NEVC High School and Russell Hays, Chief of the Walker Fire Department hang a new metal sign on the exterior of the Northeast Vernon County R-1 School District High School in Walker; the old wooden one had faded and rotted. When District Superintendent Chris Holcomb asked Bookkeeper Alberta Hays about contacting someone in the local fire department to lend a ladder and so hang the sign. She said, “My son’s the Fire Chief and I’ll just have him come over and help hang it for you.” When he showed up he said, “I may be chief but my mom outranks me and so here I am.” (Submitted photo)
