The local VFW honored their Patriot’s Pen and Voice of Democracy Winners at the Post Home on Monday, March 25.

This year’s Patriot’s Pen essay was titled “Why I honor the American Flag” and the Voice of Democracy essay was titled “Why My Vote Matters.” Patriot’s Pen writers were from the 6 – 8th grades in both the public school and the Christian School. Voice of Democracy were also from both schools and were students in the 9 – 12 grades.

VOICE OF DEMOCRACY WINNERS – CHRISTIAN SCHOOL – 1st place – Jordanne Steuk (Jordanne also took 1st on state and 16th place in the national competition), 2nd place  – Abigail Reasoner and 3rd place – Eli Daniel and Public School – 2nd place – Harmony Randolph. ( 1st place – KayLynne McCullick and 3rd place – Sydney Barger were not able to attend.)
