VFW SPEECH WINNER

VFW SPEECH WINNER – Hickory County R-I (Skyline) sophomore Kaylee Cook won the VFW Speech and Essay Contest at the local (Galmey) and district (Springfield) levels. The theme of the essay was “My Responsibility to America.” She is pictured here reading her essay at a banquet in Springfield. She now will present her essay at the state finals in Jefferson City, Feb. 4. Included in her trip to Jefferson City is a tour of the Capitol. Kaylee is the granddaughter of Virgie Francis, El Dorado Springs, and daughter of Kevin and Georgie Cook, Urbana.
