The Blackhawks of Adrian came to ElDo Friday night, and a battle of teams commenced.  Coming into the game, Adrian was ranked #9 in Class 2 claiming a 7-1 record. They were a well-coached, physical team. The game opened up with teams exchanging possessions, both trying to settle within the weather elements of the night and the opponent’s defense. I do not think after the first couple of drives the weather was a factor. It turned out to be a beautiful night for football.

DOGS ON OFFENSE – #4 Clayton Collins in the background dropping back to pass, #5 Ian Esry in the foreground getting in position to make a play.

The game was a tough game to lose. It was Senior Night, emotions were high, district implications were tied into it, just a tough overall game to lose. I do think our boys played hard. But we could not make the plays we needed to make, at the times we needed to make them, as often as we needed to, to get over the hump and finish with a victory. Give credit to Adrian to making plays but for us, we need to play the way we do at times for the entire game. We are to the point in the season now, where if we don’t, our season will end early.

This week is the start of something special. Week 10 is officially the start the MSHSAA State High School Football Playoffs. There are 64 school in our class (Class 2). Each of those schools are broken into eight districts. Those eight teams are then seeded according to the season record/results. El Dorado is Class 2 District 4. We received the #4 seed in our district and will play at home against Versailles this coming Friday.  If we win, we will either play Fair Grove or Butler.

Come out and support the players. It will be a great game to watch and be a part of. Kickoff is at 7pm. Thank you.
