The 2022 Golf season has started. The high school team consists of 7 players this year including 4 seniors. Devin Salazar and Auston Smith return as the top 2 on the team showing leadership and state caliber competition on the course. Fellow seniors, Jaren Meisenhiemer and Logan Speer, along with Rees McCullough, Tag Gurley, and

newcomer Noah Bland round out the team. Coach Beckner said, “I am ecstatic with the team so far. We have a great mixture of experience and youth. A lot of these guys have played other sports with each other so it is fun to see them in a different element.
The high school Bulldog team competed last week for their home opener against Stockton and Butler in match play. The home team swept all schools by at least 20 strokes. Beckner said, “It was a great start to the season. I was happy to see the boys compete. Not in midseason form yet, but it is progress and that’s what we need to see.”
On Monday 4/4, the varsity team traveled to Hidden Valley Golf Links in Clever MO and had a tremendous showing taking home 1st place overall. Senior Devon Salazar took second overall after winning the tournament last season. The senior said, “I was really wanting to repeat as individual champ, but to have the team score how they did, it means a lot!” Senior Auston Smith added, “I hope we can keep the momentum and continue to get better for an opportunity at state.”
The Bulldogs travel Wednesday to Versailles for another tournament before rounding the week off against Stockton at Stockton on Friday.
