The 2020 El Dorado Springs Football season ended this past Friday night with a trip to play against the #2 Ranked team in Class 2, the Lamar Tigers. The game was the Class 2 District 4 Semifinal, Lamar was coming into the contest 8-1. Lamar came into the contest with a 8-1 record. Coach Beckner said, “We knew going into the game we were going to have to be playing our best football 100% of the time with 100% of our effort. We weren’t able to accomplish that this go around, and we lost to a really good football team.”

The Bulldogs finish the season with a record of 3-7 (1-2 Conf), Cedar Bowl Champions, and a District Semi Final team. One step further than last year. “This group was a special group, I enjoyed being around them. I am thankful to be their coach, and am anxious to see what they go out and accomplish in the world.” This year also says goodbye to 13 seniors departing from the program. Most being 3 sport athletes, some with goals of playing at the next level in college. “Some of these seniors will give themselves an opportunity to get some college paid for by playing at the next level, some in football, others in basketball, baseball, or even wrestling. “

The end of year banquet date has not been set yet as the team will await post season awards after the State Championship, December 3.

“It was a crazy year! I am so thankful for being able to coach in a football season this year. There are so many coaches out there that were not so fortunate. From the administration, BOE, parents, teachers, players, custodians, anyone who had a part in this year, thank you. It was a year I will never forget, as well one for the players.”

Stay tuned for more from the Post Season Banquet…
