In a conference rivalry game, the ElDo Bulldogs took on the Buffalo Bison at home on Friday night. Buffalo got the ball to start the game and drove the field to score a TD to open with a 7-0 lead. ElDo responded by going 68 yards in 12 plays capped off with a 5 yard TD run by Aidan Rotert. Landon Murry added the extra point to tie it up at 7-7. For the rest of the 1st half, both teams battled and at halftime the score was 13-21, Buffalo on top. ElDo got the ball to start the 2nd half and went 60 yards in 6 plays with Aidan Rotert running for both a TD and the tying 2 point conversion. With 8:49 left in the 3rd quarter, the score was tied up at 21. Both teams continued to battle throughout the remainder of the game. With just under 11 minutes left in the game, Landon Murry got loose and ran for a 65 yard TD to make the score 27-28. The next play he added the extra point to make it a tie game. Then the Bulldog defense had a huge stop, forcing Buffalo to punt. ElDo got the ball on their own 49 yard line and only needed 3 plays to score a TD, another Aidan Rotert TD run, this time from 48 yards. The extra point failed, making the score 34-28 with the Bulldogs on top. The following possession, Buffalo went for it on 4 and 3 from the 38 yard line. Ryland Brower and Rees McCullough met the ball carrier for a 2 yard loss in the backfield, causing a turnover on downs. ElDo then went on a 10 play TD drive, making the score 40-28 with just under 1 minute left in the game. That is when things got more interesting as Buffalo ran back the kickoff for a quick TD. Buffalo then converted a 2 point conversion to make it 40-36 with about 40 seconds left in the game. Buffalo then successfully recovered an onside kick. Thankfully, 6 plays later Aidan Rotert intercepted a pass to seal the upset!! The Bulldogs took a knee and when the clock hit 0, it showed the Bulldogs were victorious, 40-36. The win avenged last year’s 53-12 loss and was the first Bulldog football victory over Buffalo since 2018.
