On Saturday, Oct. 31, the El Dorado Springs cross country team travelled to Lamar for the Class 3 District 7 cross country meet. The meet was held at Jeremy’s Creek Golf Course, formerly, the Lamar Country Club. The weather turned out to be a great day.The girls team got things started off at 9 a.m, with State qualifying on their mind.Hannah Klaiber led the way, finishing 2nd overall with a time of 20:26.Colbie Wood finished 11th with a time of 21:38 and Kenli Rader finished a few seconds later in 14th place with a time of 22:00.The top 15 individual finishers qualify for the State meet, so these three punched their tickets, right off the bat.Now we just had to wait for the team results, because the top two teams qualify, as well.Despite everyone running well, we found out a short time later, that the girls team, just missed out on qualifying, finishing 3rd, just nine points out of 2nd.Everyone ran well, but just got beat by two teams that had a better day.The rest of the team included Morgan Mitchell, Hanna Ridgway, Madison Hendricks, Myka Barger and Alivia Bowen.Unfortunately, the season came to an abrupt stop for these girls, however, on a positive note, the girls team does not graduate any one and so will return everyone next year.

On the boys side, Daelen Ackley led the way, finishing 1st with a time of 15:55.Also joining him with individual qualifying honors was Trevyn Garringer in 8th with a time of 17:47 and Connor Goatley in 10th with a time of 17:49. The boys team missed Brice Knoll, due to not feeling well.So we challenged the team to run not only for each other, but also for Brice, so he could have another race. The team did step up and answer, winning the meet as a team.Joining these 4 to help bring home the victory was Blayze McCullough, Garrett Klaiber, James King, and Riley Quinlan. They all ran well and stepped up to the challenge. Also, a part of the team is Gavin Ring, Izzauh Wolfe, Kyan Roberts and Avery Acevedo. So by winning the team competition, the team as a whole will compete at the state meet.

The state meet will be held on Thursday, Nov 5 at Gans Creek park in Columbia. The girls race will begin at 12:30 pm with the boys race following at 3 p.m. Good Luck El Dorado Springs cross country and GO BULLDOGS!
