El Dorado Christian School celebrated senior athlete Maddie Shipp on Thursday, October 2, recognizing her dedication and achievements in both volleyball and cross country during her years at ECS.

Maddie, the daughter of Tommy and Amber Bowen, has been a standout student and athlete, competing in volleyball for six years and cross country for three. Beyond athletics, she serves as class president and is a proud member of the National Honor Society.

Following graduation, Maddie plans to attend Crowder College, where she will pursue a degree in education with hopes of becoming a teacher.

When asked about her favorite memories as an ECS athlete, Maddie fondly recalled the playful debates during volleyball practice with teammates Alayna and Katelynn over whether they were “Team Conrad” or “Team Jeremiah,” as well as the excitement of earning her first cross country medal after completing a 5K race.

Her advice to younger athletes is simple but powerful:

“Always keep your head up and always push through when times get hard.”

Maddie’s favorite Bible verse, Jeremiah 29:11, reflects her faith and determination:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

She expressed heartfelt gratitude to her mom for “never giving up on her and always keeping her in line,” and to Tommy for his encouragement and support throughout her athletic journey.

ECS congratulates Maddie on her accomplishments, leadership, and perseverance — both on and off the court.
