On Tuesday, Oct. 15, the El Dorado Springs cross country team traveled to Butler for their second Ozarks Highland Cross Country Championship meet. It turned out to be a huge success for El Dorado Springs. Their were 4 divisions which include Middle School boys, Middle School girls, High School boys and High School girls. Of the 4 divisions, El Dorado Springs came home with the conference championship as a team, in 3 of the 4 divisions. The middle school girls, high school girls and high school boys, all ended up finding themselves at the top of the pack, as the day concluded. The middle school boys were missing a couple of boys, leaving them short on numbers to be able to compete in the team division, as you must have at least 5 runners to compete, and we were down to 4. Anyway, as a team everyone, including the middle school boys ran and competed very well.
Individually, to be All-Conference, athletes needed to be in the top 10. On the middle school boys side,7th grader, Logan Fisk, was the lone runner to be All-Conference, finishing 4th.
On the middle school girls side, we saw 5 end up all-Conference. 7th Grader, Audrey Goatley led the way finishing with a Conference Championship, winning the race. 8th Grade teammate Hanna Ridgeway was shortly behind in 3rd, followed shortly behind by 7th grade teammate Maya Steward in 5th. Also joining them for All-Conference was Lydia Zimmer in 8th and Isabelle Reddick in 10th. Myka Barger just missed out, finishing in the infamous position of 11th, although ran a great race.
On the High School girls side, Hannah Klaiber led the way, winning the race. She was joined shortly thereafter, by teammates Morgan Mitchell, Kenli Rader and Colbie Wood, to finish 2nd, 3rd and 4th, respectively. The girls dominated the race from the very get go. Teammate Abby Klaiber, just missed out, finishing in the infamous 11th position. Despite that, everyone ran extremely well. They were also joined by teammate Madison Hendricks who also had a good race.
In the High School boys side, Daelen Ackley led the way, winning the race in dominant fashion. Teammates, Trevyn Garringer, Brice Knoll and Connor Goatley, finished 3rd, 6th and 8th respectively to round out the All-Conference Honors for the boys. Teammate Blayze McCullough, just missed out, finishing in the infamous 11th position. Everyone ran well.
All in all, this turned out to be a great day for the El Dorado Springs cross country team. It was really nice to see the hard work that they have put in really pay off. Next up, they have their home meet on Tuesday, Oct. 22, out at the golf course, which is the final regular season meet of the year, then high school begins to gear up for Districts and State.
