El Dorado Springs 13  Dadeville 3

El Dorado Springs started out the year with a win at home vs Dadeville in a run rule fashion in six innings. Rylun Mays, Kandyn Ewert, Brett Alexander, Cooper Greathouse, and Grady Crews lead the way offensively.  Eldo scored 5 runs in the first and scored 4 runs in the 6th inning.  Eldo was able to score in every inning except the 4th inning. Karson Burley threw five strong innings with Rylun Mays pitching in the 6th.

“I thought that we did a great job of throwing strikes especially for the first game of the year. We did not commit an error defensively which is great!  We continued to put pressure on the defense which allowed us to score regularly.  I was very happy with the way things went as well as how our first  two and a half weeks of practice have gone.  We have worked extremely hard and it paid off in a big way!”

El Dorado Springs 4  East Newton 7

The Eldo baseball team lost its first away game of the season.  Eldo started the game off scoring 2 runs in the first.  The Bulldogs were able to hold off East Newton in the first two innings despite having several baserunners.  East Newton pulled ahead in the third inning.  Eldo was able to score two runs in the 6th inning pulling within two runs, but were unable to pull off the comeback.  Connor Bradley, KanDyn Ewert, Brett Alexander, Cooper Greathouse, and Grady Crews all had hits for the Bulldogs.  Kandyn, Cooper, and Brett were the pitchers that threw for the Bulldogs.

“We made three errors and they made two, which impacted the outcome of the game.  We had a chance to score more runs in the first but had a baserunning error.  Brett Alexander hit the ball hard all night and did a great job of keeping us in the game. We had at least two more balls hits extremely hard in key situations in which the defense made very nice plays.  I was proud of the way we fought back which gave us a chance at winning the game in the 7th.”

Eldo baseball has five games this week with home games Tuesday and Thursday against Monett and Lamar.
