The Lady Bulldogs took on Lamar on Thursday, Feb. 27, in the Class District 11 Semifinals. The Lady Bulldogs got out early, but struggled through the 2nd and 3rd quarter giving up the lead and seeing Lamar take a 4-point lead in the 4th. The Lady Bulldogs pulled off the comeback and won the semi-final 56-49. The District Championship game was on March 1st against an OHC conference opponent in the Lady Blackhawks of Adrian. The Lady Bulldogs got up early and never looked back as they took claim of their 5th District Championship in a row with a 54-26 victory.
The sectional game was held in El Dorado Springs on March 4th, against the Clever Blue Jays. The game went back and forth early with the Lady Blue Jays taking 3 point lead into the half. In the second half, the Lady Bulldogs ramped up the defensive pressure and forced some key turnovers that allowed the Lady Bulldogs to score in transition. They took the lead back in the third and finished the Lady Blue Jays off in the fourth with a 55-39 victory.
The Lady Bulldogs had their season ended on Saturday in quarter final game by Fair Grove. The Lady Bulldogs started out well taking an early lead, but the Lady Eagles were able to tie up the game before the 1st quarter ended. In the second quarter, both teams would take leads, but Fair Grove went into the half, up by 3. The Lady Bulldogs would strike back tying the game up on the first possession of the second half, but the Lady Eagles would go on a run and push their lead to 9 going into the 4th. The Lady Bulldogs continued to fight throughout the fourth quarter, but just couldn’t get things to go in. The Bulldogs would fall to the Lady Eagle 51-65.
The season didn’t end the way the Lady Bulldogs had hoped falling just short of reaching their fourth straight Final Four, but they were able to win their 6th straight undefeated Conference Championship and their 5th straight District Championship.
