On Saturday, May 4, the El Dorado Springs High School Track Teams loaded up in the morning to head to Holden for the Class 3, District 7 Track Meet. At stake was an opportunity to advance on to the Class 3 Section 4 Track Meet. Individuals or relays placing in the top 4 of their event punch their ticket to move on, while those that place in the top 8 still score points for the team title.

On the girls side, the 4 x 800 m. Relay, consisting of Tatum Quinlan, Audrey Goatley, Neely Schaaf and McKinli Mays got things off to a great start, winning with a time of 10:24.15. Kalen Post won the 100 m. Hurdles with a time of 16.63 while teammate Brailey Steward finished 7th with a time of 17.97. Lainey Dody placed 3rd in the 100 m. Dash with a time of 13.08. Audrey Goatley finished 3rd in the 1600 m. Run with a time of 5:39.41 with Riley Lee finishing 7th with a time of 6:32.24. McKinli Mays won the 400 m. Dash with a time of 59.96 with Lainey Dody finishing 3rd with a time of 1:02.21. Brailey Steward placed 2nd in the 300 m. Hurdles with a time of 49.91. Tatum Quinlan placed 2nd in the 800 m. Run with a time of 2:30.51. Lainey Dody placed 3rd in the 200 m. Dash with a time of 27.04. Audrey Goatley finished 3rd in the 3200 m. Run with a time of 12:34.60. The 4 x 400 m. Relay, consisting of Lainey Dody, Neely Schaaf, Brailey Steward and McKinli Mays won with a time of 4:13.05. Sage McCullough placed 3rd in the javelin throw with a throw of 102’2” with Christian Steuck finishing 5th with a throw of 97’11”. McKinli Mays finished 1st in the triple jump with a jump of 33’10” and Kalen Post finished 3rd in the high jump with a jump o 4’11”. In the end, the girls team found themselves in 2nd place as a team in the Class 3 District 7 Team title.

On the Boys side, the 4 x 800 m. Relay consisting of Logan Fisk, Wyatt Klaiber, Braxton Watts and Will Seitz got things started off right for the boys team, winning with a time of 8:23.81. Justin Brown then won the 100 m. Dash with a time of 10.72. Will Seitz won the 400 m. Dash with a time of 50.33. Kolton Nichols placed 3rd in the 300 m. Hurdles with a time of 43.85. Braxton Watts placed 4th in the 800 m. Run with a time of 2:06.12 followed shortly after by teammate Logan Fisk in 6th with a time of 2:09.91. Justin Brown went on to win the 200 m. Dash with a time of 22.15. Wyatt Klaiber went on to win the 1600 m. Run with a time of 4:42.89 and then followed that up with a win in the 3200 m. Run with a time of 9:58.79 followed by teammate Sylas Fletcher in 8th with a time of 11:09.82. The boys 4 x 400 consisting of Justin Brown, Wyatt Klaiber, Braxton Watts and Will Seitz wrapped up the running events winning with a time of 3:31.01. Russell Ferguson also placed 5th in the javelin throw with a throw of 126’8”. In the end, the boys team finished 3rd place as a team.

Overall, the day went great for the Bulldogs at the District Championship meet. The Bulldogs qualified 13 events (14 entries) on the girls side and 9 events on the boys side to move on to the Class 3 Section 4 Track Meet, which will be held on Saturday, May 11 again at Holden High School. At stake there will be a ticket to the MSHSAA Class 3 State Championships which will be held on May 17-18.
