Dorothy Mae Lines, 92, of Shawnee, KS, formerly of El Dorado Springs, passed away Friday, May 31, 2024, under the loving care of Harbor Hospice.  Dorothy was born on June 6, 1931, in Schell City, MO, the second daughter of Charley and Oma (Cox) Mitchem.  Dorothy graduated high school in 1949, from Schell City, MO.

She was a member of Union Hall Baptist Church and attended regularly until her health declined. She volunteered in the snack area of Vacation Bible School for many years. She also volunteered for Mothers of Preschoolers for several years.

Dorothy married Rollie Lines in Schell City, MO on June 4, 1949, two days shy of her 18th birthday. They were married 74 years until he preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 2024. They lived in Cedar and Vernon Counties all their married life until they moved to Shawnee, KS to be closer to their daughter. They had three children and three grandchildren.

In 1956, Rollie and Dorothy moved to El Dorado Springs. She babysat in their home for several years until all the children were in school. In 1969, she went to work at Dunbrooke Sportswear and worked there until she retired in 1993.

In September 2021, she and Rollie moved to Sharon Lane Health and Rehab in Shawnee, KS. On Valentine’s Day, 2023, she and Rollie were crowned Valentine’s Queen and King for their section of Sharon Lane Health and Rehabilitation.

Preceding Dorothy in death were her husband; her parents; father and mother-in-law, Charles and Edna Lines; twin brother, Donald Ray at two months of age; sister, Norma Dean Mitchem (infant); and brothers: Charles, Bud, and Everett Mitchem. Also preceding her in death were brothers-in law and sisters-in law: Lloyd and Mary Ellen Lines, Agnes and Glenn Veale, and Jim Stalnaker.

Survivors include her children: Ronnie Lines of El Dorado Springs, Phyllis Lines of Overland Park, KS, and Kevin Lines (Cheryl) of Marshall, MO; grandchildren: Dalton Lines of Marshall, MO, Charlotte Jackson (Aaron) of Mountain Home, AR and Charlie Lines (fiancé Noah Carper) of Springfield, MO. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Mary Stalnaker of Springfield, MO; nieces and nephews: Linda Leedy, Debbie Heigele, Lee Stroer, Mary Ann Mitchem, David Lines, Lisa Gregor and Tammy Stalnaker; and numerous great nieces and great nephews.

Services for Dorothy Lines will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 6, at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. Interment will follow at El Dorado Springs City Cemetery. Don Barger will be the minister. The pallbearers will be Donnie Beaty, Randy Leedy, Dalton Lines, David Lines, Guy Salerno and Rick Whitlock.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Thursday from at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
