The complete St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office  News Release April 9-16, 2018

Sheriff Scott Keeler reported deputies made nine arrests, took a report of an assault, two burglary reports and a property damage report during the week of April 9-16, 2018.

Warrant Arrests

Ashley Burrous- On April 15, Ashley Burrous, 33, Montrose, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on a class A misdemeanor stealing. Burrous was booked and released pending formal charges.

The arrest comes after a St. Clair County investigation into stealing from the Dollar General Store in Lowry City. A store employee called the Sheriff’s Office to report a stealing in progress. The suspect had already left the store before deputies arrived. Once on scene, the deputies spoke with a store employee who stated she had seen the subject, Ashley Burrous, put some items in her purse on video. The deputies reviewed the camera footage and seen the vehicle that Burrous left the store in. After a search of the area, the deputies found the car located on South Lucas Street. Deputies made contact with Burrous at the residence the vehicle was parked at. After talking with Burrous for a few minutes and advising her that Dollar General has cameras in the store, she admitted to stealing items from the store. Burrous turned over the items, totaling less than $50, to the deputies.

Brent Thomas- On April 14, Brent Thomas, 45, Osceola, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on a class D felony possession of a controlled substance and a class D misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Thomas was booked and released pending formal charges.

The arrest comes after a St. Clair County deputy responded to a motor vehicle accident. A vehicle pulled up on scene and the deputy noticed the passenger, Thomas, to be under the influence of drugs. After gaining consent to search the vehicle from the driver and Thomas, the deputy found a straw with a crystal like residue in it. Thomas admitted to the possibility the straw was his. The straw field tested positive to methamphetamines.

Travis Houts- On April 13, Travis Houts, 30, Nevada, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with failure to appear in court on a class D felony possession of a controlled substance, a class E felony unlawful possession of a weapon, a class D misdemeanor possession of marijuana, a class D misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, a class D misdemeanor operating a vehicle with no license, and a class D misdemeanor no insurance. Total bond is set $5,000 cash only.

The charges stem from a traffic stop by the Osceola Police Department on Nov. 13, 2017.

Amber Kindred- On April 13, Amber Kindred, 40, Collins, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging her with failure to appear in court on a class D misdemeanor driving while revoked/suspended-1st offense. Bond is set at $750 cash or surety.

The warrant stems from a traffic stop by the Missouri State Highway Patrol on May 9, 2017.

Gary Carpenter- On April 12, Gary Carpenter, 60, Nevada, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on a class E felony driving while intoxicated- persistent offender. This is a 24 hour hold pending formal charges.

The charge comes after St. Clair County deputies were called out to Twin Oaks Harbor on a disturbance involving Carpenter. While talking with the deputies, Carpenter admitted to drinking all day. Deputies warned Carpenter to not get into his vehicle and drive or he would be arrested. Carpenter defied the deputies and got into his vehicle and started it up. Carpenter was removed from the vehicle and placed under arrest.

Donovan Gregg- On April 12, Donovan Gregg, 30, Collins, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on a Douglas County warrant charging him with a class E felony non-support, total arrears in excess of 12 monthly payments due under order of support. Bond is set at $10,000 cash or surety.

George Richey- On April 12, George Richey, 56, Warrensburg, was arrested on a class B misdemeanor peace disturbance. This is a 24 hour hold pending formal charges.

The charge comes after a St. Clair County deputy was dispatched to the Appleton City Park. Richey was allegedly chasing and threatening people in the park.

Joshua Young- On April 12, Joshua Young, 33, Appleton City, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant for failure to appear in court on an infraction/municipal ordinance for failure to register vehicle. Bond is set at $47.50.

The charge comes from the Appleton City police Department on Jan. 26, 2018.

Sarah Danner- On April 10, Sarah Danner, 27, Raytown, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging her with a class B felony trafficking drugs or attempt-first degree. Bond is set at $35,000 cash or surety.

The charge comes after Danner was pulled over for an equipment violation. After making contact with Danner, it was found that she was on probation/parole. The deputy asked for and gained consent to search the vehicle. During the search of the vehicle a rolled up dollar bill was found with some residue on it and a baggie of marijuana. Danner admitted it was cocaine. The deputy asked Danner if there was anything illegal on her person before being placed in the back of the patrol vehicle. Danner pulled a small baggie of crystal like substance from her sweatshirt pocket. After being asked again, she admitted to more being in her pocket. Danner also admitted to the deputy to having more methamphetamines in her bra. The drugs were recovered at the jail. The baggie did test positive for methamphetamines.

Assault in Osceola

On April 15, a St. Clair County deputy was dispatched to the Citizens Memorial Healthcare Clinic in Osceola in reference to an assault. The deputy arrived on scene and spoke with Mary Mickle. Mickle stated that her daughter, Misty Bennink, came home and woke her up telling her she wrecked Mickle’s car. Bennink asked Mickle if she had any cigarettes and Mickle stated she did not. Bennink got mad and punched Mickle in the nose and shoved her to the ground. Mickle stated she did not give Bennink permission to use her vehicle.

A request for prosecution was filled out by Mickle.

Burglary in Collins

On April 12, a St. Clair County deputy was dispatched to a residence on South East 54 Highway in Collins. Upon arrival, the deputy spoke with Randy Esry. Esry stated when he came home around 4:30 p.m. he noticed his back door of his residence kicked in.

     Esry showed the deputy the disarray of the house. Esry stated that two of his firearms and a box of ammo were missing from the residence. Total estimated value of the loss is $1,013.

Burglary in Appleton City

On April 11, a St. Clair County deputy was dispatched to a residence on East Fifth Street in reference to a burglary. Upon arrival, the deputy spoke with Gerald Fennewald. Fennewald stated that sometime Tuesday or Wednesday, someone broke into his garage through a window. He stated whoever it was, was gathering things into boxes for possible removal.

Evidence was collected from the scene.

Property Damage in El Dorado Springs

On April 11, a St. Clair County deputy was dispatched to a residence on South West 450 Road in reference to property damage. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with Tiffany Esser.

Esser stated that someone scratched “KILL” on the back of her vehicle and scratched all the other panels on her vehicle.
