Mona Lynn (Donley, Burdick) Purtle, 62, El Dorado Springs, passed away in a tragic car accident on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013. Mona was born May 7, 1950, in Champaign, IL, the daughter of Ralph and Martha (Mosbarger) Donley.

Mona attended Tulscola Schools where she graduated. She soon after went into the Air Force where she met her first husband, Randy Burdick. They were married in June of 1973. They started a family and were discharged from the military and moved to Nevada where Randy’s family lived. Soon after they increased their family with two more children. They divorced in 1982.

She was reintroduced to her husband, Ellis Purtle, in 1990 and they were married in 1994. Shortly after this, Mona’s house burned down and she and the younger children moved with Ellis to El Dorado Springs. Mona worked at the State Hospital in Nevada in the kitchen. Later she worked at Spercells factory in Nevada. She had worked at Heartland Hospital as a MHW. She was working for Partners in Our Community at the time of her passing.

Anyone who met Mona was found to be treated as family. She never knew a stranger. She always made sure that if there was something needed she would go out of her way to help. She enjoyed being outdoors, traveling and playing and being with her grandkids.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Ralph and Martha Donley; her husband, Ellis Purtle and her former husband, Randy Burdick.

She is survived by her sister, LaVon Cornett, and husband, Stan – Carterville, IL; daughter, Debbie Taylor, and husband, Gary – Walker; son, Patrick Burdick of the home; daughter, Crystal Bogart, and husband, Jeremy – Wappingers Falls, NY; five grandchildren – Mathew Oliver, Brady Bogart, Anna Bogart, Hayley Burdick and David Taylor; one niece; one nephew; and numerous cousins and friends.

She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.

Services will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, in Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home with Pastor Dana Taylor officiating. The family received friends from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Love Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Ricco Su’a, Charles Dice Jr., Daren Taylor, Mike Rochon, Travis Burchett and Charles Dice Sr. Honorary pallbearer will be Kenny Burchett.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be left at the funeral home to help the family with expenses.
