Bonnie Lou Short, 82, Nevada, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2013, in Barone Alzheimer’s Care Center, Nevada, following a lengthy illness. She was born on July 19, 1930 in El Dorado Springs, to Ira Collins and Alma Galvin Collins. She married Daniel Elwood Short on June 10, 1942 in Ft. Scott, KS, and he preceded her in death on April 3, 2005.
Bonnie was raised in Dederick. She attended Willow Grove School and graduated from El Dorado Springs High School. She spent most of her working life as a bookkeeper for Nevada Farm Service and Junior House in Nevada.
Bonnie was a loving mother, grandmother and homemaker.
Survivors include three sons – Greg Short and his wife – Karen, Lane Short and his wife – Debby and Keith Short and his wife – Samantha – all of Nevada; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one sister, Rozella Gammon – Harwood; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her spouse she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers – Eugene Collins, Ralph Collins and Donald Collins and one sister, Erma Hawkins.
Graveside services were Tuesday, May 14, in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Walker, with Scotty Pritchett officiating.
