In the case of all arrests, it must be remembered that the charge is merely an accusation and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Law enforcement activities

The El Dorado Springs Police Department responded to 74 requests for assistance this past week, Oct 16-22. The requests were as follows:

Ambulance Assists 7, Animal Control 10, Assist Other Agencies 14, All Escorts 0, Nuisance 0, All Other Requests for Assistance 43, Summons 1.

Animal Control

Anyone interested in adopting  animals from the City Pound should contact Officer Richards, animal control officer at 876-2313.

Found Property is available for viewing, Monday through Saturday, by appointment only. A detailed description of the property you’re wishing to view must be specified when making the appointment. Found Property is subject to disposal after 90 days based on value of the property if unclaimed by owner.

Police Report

On October 16, 2023, officer responded to 724 East US 54 Highway, Community National Bank & Trust, concerning a larceny.  A report taken and the investigation continues.

On October 18, 2023, officers responded to 227 West U.S 54 Highway, Pete’s Convenience Store concerning a larceny. The investigation revealed the theft of a black Samsung cell phone. A suspect had been identified, a report taken and the investigation continues.

On October 18, 2023, officers responded to 100 East U.S. 54 Highway, Casey’s General Store, concerning shoplifting. The investigation revealed the theft of pizza and other food items.  Suspects have been identified, report taken and the investigation continues.

On October 21, 2023, officers responded to 101 Long Lane concerning an Unlawful use of a Weapon. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Gordon C Liveoak, 37, of El Dorado Springs, for the probable cause of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Domestic Assault 4th degree. Officers completed a probable cause statement for these charges. Officers received a Cedar County Warrant charging Liveoak with Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Class E Felony and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Class D Felony, with a $25,000.00 cash bond.  He was transferred to the Cedar County Jail pending bond and a court appearance.

On October 22, 2023, officers responded to 317 South Ohio concerning an assault. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Joshua D Carter, 44, of El Dorado Springs, for the probable cause of Assault. He was released on summons pending a court appearance.
