Dear El Dorado Spring R-2 Students, Parents, and Patrons,

I am pleased to welcome you all back to the 2019-20 School Year. As always, we have had a busy summer with our maintenance crew tackling several large projects and making repairs throughout the district. The biggest and most noticeable changes will be in the upper gymnasium where we are replacing the stadium seating on the east side of the gym and doing a complete refinish and restriping of the gym floor. We are also excited to see our first fall sports season begin with access to our new secondary gym which will make practices and games go much smoother than in the past.

We have a number of new teachers joining our staff this year including seven new elementary teachers, two middle school teachers, five high school teachers, two counselors, and one new administrator. I hope that we all welcome them to our teaching staff and to our community. Several of these new hires will also be taking on coaching responsibilities and we are looking forward see what new ideas they bring to our athletics programs.

We have had to make some changes in our school lunch program due to a smaller number of our students qualifying for federal assistance. We can no longer participate in the CEP program (free breakfast and lunch for all students) in the Middle School and High School buildings. The Elementary (Pre-K – 5) Building still qualifies and will receive free meals as we have done the last five years. Parents and Guardians of Middle School and High School Students will need to make sure that the return the free and reduced form to the school if they think they might qualify for free or reduced price lunches.

As we head into this new school year, please remember that the best way for your child to have a successful year is to keep the lines of communication open with your child’s teachers. I am looking forward to a successful and exciting year. It’s a great day to be a Bulldog.

Mark Koca, Superintendent of Schools
