TOPS Chapter 9319 El Dorado Springs met in The Firefly Services building, on Thursday, Aug. 21, for their regular weigh-in and meeting.
Our leader, Warren, called the meeting to order. Carol led us in singing “I Love My TOPS Club.”
We said our TOPS & KOPS pledges.
Warren led us in Roll Call. Fourteen members weighed in, we had a 4.4-pound gain and a 3.8 loss leaving us with a net gain of .6. The best loser for the week was Warren with a loss of 3.2 pounds. Congratulations Warren, keep up the good work!
Warren had the program today, he asked us to guess what percent of TOPS members are diabetic or been told they have pre diabetes? Losing weight can help with diabetes. Many of our members have reduced their risk by losing weight.
He had a “risk test” to see if you have the risk of becoming a diabetic. The three factors on the risk test you can not change are age (the older you get the more you are at risk) your gender (men have a higher risk than women) and your family history. The two things you can control are physical activity (the more active you are the less prone to diabetes). The other thing you can control is your weight. The more you weigh the more risk you have of becoming diabetic. The good news is you can increase your activity and reduce your weight.
Contest: The contest ends next week, Pat said she will conclude it at the first meeting in September. Currently Linda H is in first place, Warren 2nd place and Jan and Sue tied for 3rd.
Marble game: There is $22 in the pot, Linda C won the right to draw but did not get the winning one.
Warren & Linda reported on the TOPS Fun Day they attended on Saturday along with several other members. They had a very good time, won a lot of awards and enjoyed the guest speaker who was a nutritionist.
With no other business we closed with our motto “IF IT IS TO BE IT IS UP TO ME”
