TOPS Chapter 9319 El Dorado Springs met in The Firefly Services building 700 E. Hospital Rd., on Thursday, June 11, for their regular weigh-in and meeting.

Jean called the meeting to order, Warren and Linda had a funeral they had to attend today.

Carol led us in singing “You Are My Song.”

We said our TOPS & KOPS pledges.

Jean led us in roll call, 12 members weighed in we had a Gain of 3.8 and a loss of 1.0, giving us a net gain of 2.8. The Best Loser of the week was Jan with a 1-pound loss.  Congratulations Jan!

Carol presented the program today. She used information from the recent TOPS NEWS magazine May/June 2026 issue. Fighting Childhood Obesity. What can adults do to help children not fall into the childhood obesity dilemma? Accepting that some things are beyond our control can help reduce feelings of shame and frustration. Things we can NOT control; The past, My Genes, what others say, what others do, what others believe and What others think. Things we can control: My response, My beliefs and thoughts, My actions and My words.

How we control our words, how we talk about weight matters, instead of fixating on the number on the scale, focus on overall health.

How we talk about food; instead of calling foods good or bad we can discuss them in a more practical way, food is simply fuel for our bodies. Our bodies are complex and because of that they need many different nutrients to work well. You would not put cheap low-grade fuel in a high-performance race car!

We can control our actions:  Get moving, this is as simple as going for a walk.

Sleep well: sufficient sleep is vital and is considered the foundation of good health.

Carol finished her program with a quote; “Life’s tragedy is we get old too soon and wise too late.” And; “nobody ever loses weight alone.” We all need support and accountability.

Thank you Carol for a great program.

Reminder: if you are in the contest, remember to keep your daily information filled in on your form.

Marble Game: There is $28.50 in the pot, Jean won the right to draw but did not get the winning one.
