The El Dorado Springs Chamber of Commerce has been notified by the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry that it is the recipient of the 2016 Missouri Chamber of the Year for smaller markets. The smaller market award goes to a chamber of commerce with 500 or fewer members. The El Dorado Springs Chamber of Commerce has approximately 125 members.

El Dorado Spriongs Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jackson Tough said  he completed an activity questionnaire from the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry which included questions regarding the chamber’s projects, programs, initiatives and engagement. Those projects include: Clean up ElDo, Christmas Lighting Ceremony, Christmas Parade, Community Guides, Visitor Guides, Social Media:”Be in the Know About ElDo Mo,” Online member directory, Crafts & Home Based Biz Christmas Expo, Small Business Saturday, National Day of Prayer (with Ministerial Assoc.), City Wide Garage Sale , Annual Awards Gala, New member ribbon cuttings, grand openings, etc, Monthly networking luncheons, Highway 54 “Sidewalk to the Future” (with KBRPC and the City of El Dorado Springs), Refurbishing the “Historic Downtown “ sign, encouraging the Economic Development Director Initiative, New Resident welcome packs, Bulldog Seasonal Sports calendar, Improvement of the community, Source for visitor and public information, Youth Scholarship fund, Referring members to prospective customers and providing member network opportunities.

Pammy Long, director of the Missouri Chamber Federation, said this was the first year to offer an award to two different markets. They decided since there were so many applications, the smaller markets needed the recognition, She said the judging was done by a team of five judges from around the state.

The executive director and board members will accept their honor at the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry 2016 Awards Banquet on Thursday, Dec. 8, at the Big Cedar Lodge. The membership is encouraged to join them. Please contact the Chamber by Oct. 26 if you want to attend.
