Spicer-Grimsley Auxiliary #257 welcomed long-time member Fern Barclay, 96, on Monday, Dec 7, at the post home to award her year a 70-year pin as an auxiliary member. Mrs. Barclay joined the auxiliary under the service record of her husband, John S. Barclay, an El Dorado Springs graduate, who was stationed in Alaska from 1941-45. Mrs. Barclay has been a member of the Spicer-Grimsley Auxiliary #257 since 1948. Spicer-Grimsley VFW Post #257, the oldest chartered post in Missouri, recently celebrated their 100th anniversary and Mrs. Barclay is the only 72-year member the Auxiliary has had the privilege of honoring. She was presented a scarf by Auxiliary president, Linda Bartkoski, and will receive a 70-year pin.
