TOPS Chapter 319 El Dorado Springs (Take Off pounds Sensibly) met in the Church of Christ meeting room on Thursday, Sept. 8.

Judy K. had the program today. This was a “Tasting Party.” Everyone brought a low calorie and or a low fat dish to “taste” along with the recipe. Judy will then type up a recipe book for us.

Everyone had a good time tasting new dishes and getting good ideas for a low calorie option. Thank You Judy for a different program.

Plans are being made for the Sept. 29 Baked Potato Luncheon. It will be held in the Community Civic Center Banquet room at Jackson and Spring St, El Dorado Springs. We will serve a Loaded Baked potato (choice of white or sweet), salad, dessert and coffee or tea. Watch the paper for details but mark your calendars now. The proceeds go part to fund TOPS recognition days and part back to the community. Last December we donated proceeds to the Food Pantry and to the Senior Center. Last month we donated $600 to the Senior Center.

Our leader, Robbie, opened the meeting. Kay led us in singing “We Are Losing”.

We said our pledges and had roll call.

Twenty-two members weighed in today. Jan T was the best loser for the week with a loss of 5.8 lbs. The chapter had a net loss of 7.4 lbs.

Marilyn presented Juanita with several awards today. She was the best loser for the month of August with a loss of 9.2 lbs for the month. She received $4.76 for her efforts. Juanita received her 20 lb loss and her 25 lb loss certificates and her half way to goal certificate and she is now “On The Stick” meaning she is 20 lbs away from reaching her goal weight and becoming a KOPS.

Marilyn read a thank you note from Shelter Insurance thanking our chapter for participating in the St Jude’s Run For A Reason.

Robbie announced Fall Rally’s date and location has been changed to Rich Hill on Nov. 5 at the Rich Hill High School. Members attending must still pay registration by Sept. 15.

We thank, Carol, Linda H and Kay for typing, putting together and printing song books for us. These will stay with Robbie and be passed out at the meeting and returned to Robbie after using.

Warren reported on the contest. Last week’s results were Warren #1, followed by Dorothy, Sandi and Becky. He said next week’s winners will change.

Marble game: Judy K won the right to draw the marble but did not get the white one.

We welcome anyone who is interested in losing weight. That includes men, women, teenagers, and even children above the age of seven. We encourage and reward losses even as small as .2 of a pound! We kid a lot about that awful .2 especially when it is a gain. We do not shame you if you gain but help you explore what you might do to have a loss the next week. We have a lot of fun in the process!

Today is the first day of the rest of your life as the saying goes so it is a good day to make a life changing decision. We often remind ourselves that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. We are here to help you break the cycle and have fun doing it. Please consider joining us.
