The Cedar County Memorial Hospital Senior Life Solutions team has been very busy during September as they recognize National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. They have signs along hospital grounds with words of encouragement, and Steve Bearden, LPC was spotted in the hospital hallway with one of many uplifting signs that he was putting into place. They made rounds with “cookies” made by our Dietary department that sure put a smile on everyone’s face and on Friday, Sept. 25, they are encouraging everyone to wear teal and purple to recognize the prevalence of suicide.

Senior Life Solutions services are designed to provide assistance to a more senior population of individuals suffering from symptoms of depression and anxiety often related to aging. The program staff include a Board-certified psychiatrist, a licensed therapist, a registered nurse and other trained professionals. Referrals to the program may be made by anyone, including a patient’s physician, family member, or other healthcare professional. If someone you know is suffering from depression, loneliness, life transitions, or suicidal thoughts, please contact them at (417) 876-3656.
