The Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at Cedar County Memorial Hospital could be the beginning of a healthier future — AND as of Jan. 23, 2023 the Program has moved from the Cedar County Memorial Hospital Medical Mall to the hospital at 1401 S. Park Street. Brooke McPeak, RN, BSN along with her team of Jacquie McWilliams, LPN and Paula Parks have moved right along too. With physicians “in-house” 24 hours a day, the schedules may prove to be smoother and safer for all.

Physical activity is essential for good health, is an especially important factor in recovery after suffering a cardiac event – and, in addition, may also benefit those with or at risk of heart disease. These services at CCMH are offered to area community residents when referred by their medical Provider – or personally as a wellness choice.

Exercise equipment for the upper and lower extremities is available as well as information and instruction regarding cardiac disease treatment and reduction of risk factors. Our experienced staff will closely monitor each individuals progress during a 60-90 minute session tailored to specific needs. Progress reports will be regularly shared with the referring Provider.

Phase II Rehabilitation

This Cardiac Rehabilitation Phase begins soon after treatment/hospital discharge and usually continues for 8-12 weeks according to progress and Provider recommendations — and is typically reimbursed by Medicare and many third party insurances.

Phase III Rehabilitation

This Cardiac Rehabilitation Phase is available as a Maintenance/Wellness program to continue risk factor reduction. Cost for this is program is $40 per month each or $50 per couple.

Risk factors contributing to cardiac disease include – smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and high fat diets, stressful lifestyles and lack of physical activity and exercise can be better controlled by adopting healthy lifestyle changes. Consider making lifestyle changes a commitment to improve personal cardiovascular fitness that will likely improve quality of life and extend your lifetime.
