Presiding Commissioner Kenneth Thornton, Northern Commissioner Ron Alumbaugh, and Southern Commissioner Ted Anderson have been busy in recent weeks attending meetings, inspecting infrastructure, and managing county operations. Following heavy rainfall and weekend flooding, the commissioners personally assessed bridges and low-water crossings, reporting several impassable roads. The three-member commission oversees the Cedar County Road and Bridge Department, approves county budgets, and ensures compliance with state statutes.

Thornton shared his enthusiasm for the work, noting, “There are a lot of good things happening, and we’re learning every time we go.” He also highlighted the Commission’s recent adoption of Resolution No. 20250414—the first step toward earning Missouri’s Blue Shield Designation under the Safer Missouri initiative. “This resolution shows our continued focus on making Cedar County a safer, stronger place for everyone,” Thornton said.
