During the Oct. 7 meeting of the El Dorado Springs City Council, City Manager Bruce Rogers mentioned that the El Dorado Springs Optimist Club had donated playground equipment that will be placed in the City Park. The current playground equipment would be moved to the Southside Park.
Councilmen Allen Hicks, Gabby Kinnett, Nathan Murrell and Alvan Reasoner were present. Councilman Logan Friar was absent.
The Council approved the tax collection contract with Cedar County Collector and Commission. This an annual contact that lets the county collect the property taxes and then distribute it to the city for 3% of the total. They also approved on the first and second reading an ordinance adopting a comprehensive budget for the City of El Dorado Springs for the fiscal year 24-25
The City voted to close the street by the Senior Center on October 25, for a car show. Also, on Oct. 26, the chamber and school wll collaborate in the annual Spooktacular from 4 – 8 in the City Park. There will be a Haunted House in the bottom of the Community Building as well as Haunted Museum Tours.
At the Chamber meeting on Thursday, Oct. 10, Rogers announced that the city had received a 1.5 million grant to redo the airport runway from MOT Aviation; $520,000 grant from DNR and NPS (National Parks Service) for $520, 000 for the pool; sidewalk grant for the sidewalk and there is an application for a CDBG $300,000 grant to tear down the old shirt factory building and an application for $500,000 for the fire station.
