On Thursday Sept. 9, the El Dorado Springs R-2 Board of Education met in regular session.

The meeting was called to order at 7 p.m. and after the consent agenda was approved, the board heard updates regarding the successful completion of a project to demolish a structure at 1013 S. Park and turn that lot and the adjacent lot into a parking lot. The school owns both lots. The board also heard updates on the ag food science lab project which is now ready for framing and an update on the track resurfacing project which is now complete.

Mr. Oates provided the monthly COVID status update. As of Thursday Sept. 9, 6 total students were on quarantine.

In New Business, the board approved bus routes as submitted by Scott Roe of Apple Bus. The board then rescinded policy C-165-P and approved an updated version. This policy specifically allows parents to audio record an IEP meeting, which is consistent with a new state law.

The board then approved updates to the employee manual which included the following changes:

Codifying the COVID leave policy language for all employees for the remainder of the 2021-22 year (expiring on June 30, 2022).

Adding 10 days of leave for employees who are victims of domestic violence (consistent with state law).

The board approved the submitted surplus property list, which includes 5 teacher/office desks. (I will post pics of these soon)

The board also approved increases to event worker pay.

The board then heard the final report regarding Summer Journey and adjourned.

During executive session, the board agreed to add an assistant theater position for $500/semester and approved Candice Bland as volunteer cheer coach.
