On April 8, 2025, voters in the El Dorado Springs R-II School District will have the opportunity to shape the future of education in our community by voting on a $6 million bond proposal. This initiative is designed to address critical infrastructure needs, improve accessibility, and enhance safety and security across the district’s facilities–and will not increase the current debt service property tax levy of $0.5400 per $100 of assessed valuation.
The proposed improvements reflect our commitment to providing a safe, inclusive, and high-quality learning environment for all students. If approved, the bond will fund vital projects that will benefit students, staff, and the broader community for years to come.
Key Improvements Proposed
• ADA Compliance Upgrades: The district seeks to ensure that all concession areas and restrooms meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. These upgrades will provide equitable access for all individuals, fostering a more inclusive environment for students, families, and community members.
• Parking Lots, Driveways, and Sidewalk Enhancements: Improved parking lots, driveways, and sidewalks at district facilities will enhance safety and accessibility for students, staff, and visitors. These upgrades aim to reduce congestion and ensure smooth traffic flow during school hours and events.
• Safety and Security Enhancements: The safety of our students and staff is paramount. Planned improvements include repairing or replacing roofs, windows, lighting systems, and exterior doors to fortify our facilities against potential threats while creating a secure learning environment.
• Facility Modernization: Funds will also be allocated to renovate and furnish existing school buildings. These updates will create modernized spaces that support innovative teaching methods and meet the evolving needs of our students.
• Long-Term Infrastructure Improvements: As funds allow, additional projects will address aging infrastructure across the district. These efforts include upgrading essential systems to ensure operational efficiency and sustainability.
Why This Matters
Our schools are not just places of learning–they are community hubs that bring people together. By investing in these improvements, we are ensuring that our facilities remain safe, accessible, and conducive to student success in academics, athletics, arts, and beyond.
The bond initiative reflects careful financial planning by the district. Importantly, approval of this measure will not increase the current property tax levy rate. This ensures that we can make these critical investments without placing additional financial burdens on taxpayers.
Community Impact
The proposed projects will directly benefit students by creating safer and more engaging learning environments. Additionally, these upgrades will enhance community use of school facilities during events and activities. Improved infrastructure also supports local economic growth by attracting families who value strong schools.
