TOPS Chapter 9319 El Dorado Springs met in The Hill Church building, on Thursday, April 10, for their regular weigh-in and meeting. This was a temporary meeting place for today only as our regular meeting place Firefly Services was not available.

Our Leader, Warren called the meeting to order, Carol led us in singing “A TOPS CLUB CLOVER”

Warren led us in our TOPS and KOPS Pledges, and Roll Call.

Marilyn led us in some exercises.

Seventeen members weighed in today. We had a 4.6 gain and a 11.8 loss giving us a 7.2 net loss! Our Best Loser for the month was Pam with a 5.6 loss! Congratulations, Pam. Other great losses were: Sue 1.2, Connie 1.4, and Pat 2.6. Good Job!

Pat reported on the contest; we have two weeks left on this. Linda H is currently in the lead.

Marble game: there is $17.50 in the pot. Sue won the right to draw but did not get the winning one.

Linda H reported she received information on the TOPS Summer contest. This is a contest TOPS INTERNATIONAL does and gives awards at local fall rallies. She will get a copy to Pat and she can incorporate it into our chapter contest. A member can earn Bronze, Silver or Gold in this contest that runs from May 1 to July 31, but you must attend a Fall Rally to receive your award. More details later on this.

Sharron had the program today, titled “Just One Thing: Confessions of a Food addict.” She took it from TOPS NEWS Jan/Feb 2025 issue.

Food addiction requires solving the underlying triggers for compulsive overeating. If you don’t understand and address the root cause of your behavior, you will stay stuck in cyclical gaining and losing. Remember, you did not gain an unhealthy amount of weight overnight and it will take time to shed the extra pounds. Be kind to yourself!

Some ideas that might help address your food addiction: try to find one idea to incorporate into your efforts. If it works for you and becomes a habit, choose another. Always remember to keep it simple and do not let yourself become overwhelmed. A couple of food related changes recommended:

Don’t deny, modify” rehab favorite recipes into lower calorie, more nutrient dense versions.

Find a way to move that brings you joy or is a means to accomplishing a goal that is important to you.

And a mental well- being suggestion; Believe you can lose weight, you need to really believe in yourself, “Believe you can, Believe you can’t either way you will be right” –Henry Ford.

Do positive affirmations.

Thank you, Sharron, for a great program. We can all find “Our Just One Thing” to get us on the right track.

Marilyn will have the program next week.

With no other business we closed with our motto “IF IT IS TO BE IT IS UP TO ME”
