A recent social media announcement from the Nevada Police Department revealed that the agency has secured a safety-focused grant from the Missouri Department of Public Safety.
According to the post, the department used the funds to purchase window guards for patrol vehicles. The equipment is designed to improve officer and inmate safety during transports—a task that often comes with unpredictability and risk. Officials say the guards serve as both a barrier to prevent escape or vehicle damage and a means of protecting officers during close quarters travel with detainees.
“This equipment enhances the safety of our officers and those in custody,” the department shared in the post. “We’re grateful for the continued support from the Department of Public Safety.”
The grant represents an ongoing effort by Missouri agencies to invest in local law enforcement resources, particularly in smaller or rural communities where funding can be limited.
