Our Sunday School hour began with the beautiful hymn, The Solid Rock. Then Carl gave us an “open book” Bible quiz before sending us to our classes.

Brother Dennis titled his sermon, “Believe,” with the Call to Worship Mark 9:23 – “If you can?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for him who believes.”

Dennis began saying how excited he was about welcoming the New Year, which he said should be referred to as, “The Year of Our Lord, 2017.” He said that he believed that God is going to do great things this year. Not just in our lives, but also in our churches and our nation, and that God has a plan for each one of us that includes not only this year, but the rest of our lives. God has always had the plan; He still does and He always will.

Sunday evening, we held our Christmas program which had been postponed from Dec. 18, because of the terrible cold. The program began with special music of “Angels We Have Heard on High,” by Juanita Wallen and Bobbie Jo Scott. Then all ages of our Sunday School Children gave a wonderful performance of playing hand bells and singing “Jingle Bells” and “Silent Night.” The final performance was of “The Littlest Angel,” played by a wonderful cast: Wilson Burchett – Littlest Angel, Larry Hadsall – Keeper of the Golden Gate, Dennis Wallen – Understanding Angel, Joan McPeak – Heavenly Organist, Howard McPeak, Gracie Swopes, Darren Burchett, Ashley Kaemmerling and Caitlyn Burchett – Heavenly Choir. Carl Nelsen played the part of the Keeper of the Stars, Susan Abbott – was the Shining Star, and Judd Lawson and Alexis Evans were the Little Stars and Duke Mason provided the Voice of God. Marcia Abbott was Narrator and Connie Abbott took care of the lighting. Others involved in making the program possible were Eva and Larry Hadsall, Don Evans, Jenny Swopes and Jill Kaemmerling, all who worked hard to provided the beautiful props.

Following the program was the annual gift exchange and the delicious carry-in meal and the blessing of fellowship.
