The Preserve the Vision fundraising banquet was a night to remember. The evening’s focus was on remembering the past and forming the future of El Dorado Christian School. Banquet guests enjoyed a delicious meal in a beautifully-decorated atmosphere, served by the ECS students.
This year’s Preserve the Vision Banquet was in honor of Mrs. Betty Tucker. El Dorado Christian School was blessed to have Mrs. Tucker as a teacher and supporter for many years! She understood the importance in the ministry of Christian Education. One of Betty’s favorite titles was “Teacher.” Her teaching career spanned 39 years and several schools, primarily El Dorado Christian School and Fort Scott Christian Heights. She was a gifted educator and influenced countless students through the years. Representative Dane Diehl presented the Tucker family with a resolution in honor of Mrs. Tucker.
Keynote speaker, Chad Pollard, shared with us from a passage in Joshua that he titled, Memorial Stones. He challenged us to do what Joshua did with the Israelites and to build a memorial to remember the Lord’s provision to past generations and the promise of his providence to future generations. We were reminded to preserve the vision of ECS as a lasting memorial that serves as a reminder for our children that they too would know the faithfulness of God in taking care of His people. Those memorial stones placed by the early ECS pioneers are part of a legacy story that we are to pass on to our children and to future generations to preserve the vision of Christian education in our community.
Tom Frey, an ECS parent and auctioneer, engaged the crowd to sell goods that supporters had provided. In celebration of their 20th class reunion, the first ECS graduating class of 2005 came together at the banquet. Adding to the evening, a select group of ECS middle and high school students performed two worship songs for guests. Much gratitude goes out to all those who made this event special, gave generously, and continue to support the vision of ECS and Christian education financially and through prayer. All glory and thanksgiving to God for His providence.
